SAN FRANCISCO - Enrique Dimayuga carded an opening round score of 69 (-1), Keita Okada shot 71 (+1), and the Nevada Men's Golf team is in 11th place at +6 in a superb field of 31 teams at The Goodwin.
Competing at world-renowned course TPC Harding Park, Nevada came prepared to play on Thursday. The Pack recorded a team score of 286 (+6), placing them in 11th place on the team leaderboard, and just five strokes out of the top-five.Â
Dimayuga led the way for Nevada with a masterful first round performance at an incredibly challenging course. Dimayuga carded a 69 (-1) and he is tied for eighth overall in a field of 168 golfers. Dimayuga was on fire to begin the round, as he recorded eight pars and two birdies on the first nine holes. Dimayuga picked up a birdie on the 10th hole; but, he responded with eight consecutive pars to close out what was an incredibly consistent round.
Okada also had an impressive day for the Pack, recording a score of 71 (+1) to complete the day tied for 28th on the individual leaderboard. Beginning his round on the 10th hole, Okada had a challenging first nine holes, tallying six pars, two bogeys, and one double bogey, as he entered the second set of nine holes at +4. Okada showed outstanding poise in what was an exceptional back nine. The senior recorded five birdies, two pars, and one double bogey to close out the first round.
Making his first appearance in the Wolf Pack lineup this spring, Alex Maxwell carded a first-round score of 73 (+3). Maxwell is tied for 68th after the first set of 18 holes. The sophomore recorded 13 pars, four bogeys, and one birdie throughout the first round.Â
Liam Gobin also shot 73 (+3) on Thursday, as he is tied with Maxwell in the 68th position on the leaderboard. Gobin tallied 13 pars, four bogeys, and one birdie during the first round. Both Gobin and Maxwell will have the opportunity to advance significantly on the leaderboard Friday.
Tom Patterson rounded out the Wolf Pack lineup, carding a 76 (+6) for the first round. Patterson will enter the second round tied for 137th on the leaderboard.Â
Competing as an individual participant, Supakit (Oak) Seelanagae recorded a score of 75 (+5) during the first round, and he is tied for 115th after the first set of 18 holes.Â
Nevada will return to the course on Friday for the second round of The Goodwin at TPC Harding Park.Â
