RENO, Nev. – Nevada Men's Tennis dropped its home opener against the Saint Mary's Gaels. The Gaels, down 2-0, flipped the momentum of the game, defeating the Pack 4-3.
 
The Pack opened the dual strong, winning the doubles point with three matches in which they held the lead for the majority of the match. Edgar Destouet and Greg Valente defeated Carlos Ramos and Ellison Greco in a dominant 6-3 victory on court three to give the Pack a leg up in the doubles session. Matheo Coupu and Youssef Kadiri clinched the doubles point for Nevada with their 6-4 win on court one against Diego Jarry and Paulo Hugo Etchecoin. Loris Zisswiller and Rémy Trégourès held a 5-4 lead against Mathis Moysan and Thibaud Maxant when the doubles session was clinched.
 
Zisswiller doubled the Nevada lead with his swift defeat against Moysan on court three, 6-2, 6-0.
 
The Saint Mary's comeback began with on-court on when Ramos defeated Coupu in the top-flight matchup, 6-2, 6-1. Pierre Lieutaud tied the dual with a second-set sweep on court six; Lieutaud defeated Valente 6-3, 6-0. Maxant took the lead for Saint Mary's narrowly defeating Destouet in both sets, winning 7-5, 7-5 on court four.
 
Trégourès pulled a point back for the Wolf Pack in a long, grueling victory over Etchecoin on court five. The Nevada freshman defeated Etchecoin 7-6 (3), 7-6.
 
Fueled by a long first-set victory, Jarry clinched the dual for Saint Mary's, defeating Kadiri 7-6 (6), 6-3.
 
The Pack stays home for the weekend, hosting Jessup for a doubleheader at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 23.
