DAVIS, Calif. - Nevada women's tennis began its dual campaign with a 5-2 victory over UC Davis.
The Pack opened strong, clinching the doubles point with split results, 2-1, favoring Nevada.
Amahée Charrier and
Anastasia Luneva took the No. 1 match, winning 6-2 over UC Davis' Arianna Stavropoulos and Kaia Wolfe. The Wolf Pack closed out the doubles point with a
Kennedy Robinson/
Wiem Boubaker victory in the third flight, 6-4. Their No. 3 victory came against Michelle Zell and Carly Schwartzberg. Although the doubles point had been won, UC Davis won flight two with the Maunupau sisters, Olive and Daisy defeating the Pack's
Marlene Foerster and
Léa Cakarevic, 7-6 (0).
In the singles session, the Aggies tied the dual with a No. 2 victory from Mika Ikemori, defeating Foerster, 6-1, 6-4.
The Pack rallied back quickly with three straight singles wins coming at flights five, four, and one. At No. 5, Nevada's Boubaker completed her sweep on the day with a 6-2, 6-4 win over O. Maunupau. Nevada took a 3-1 lead with Luneva's 6-3, 7-5 victory over Zell at flight four. Charrier's flight one win sealed the dual victory for Nevada. Charrier defeated Stavropoulos 1-6, 7-6, 6-1, earning the Pack's fourth point.
Despite the Pack clinching the dual, Schwartzberg drew back a point for UC Davis with a 2-6, 6-1, 6-3 victory over Robinson.
Nevada added a fifth point with
Lou-Anne Guerbert's 6-4, 6-7 (0), [10-6] win versus Wolfe at flight three.
The Pack head East for tomorrow's match at Sacramento State. The match is scheduled to begin at 10 A.M at the Sacramento State Tennis Courts.
