Eight Nevada swimmers and divers honored to Mountain West 25^th Season Teams
 
RENO, Nev. – Eight Nevada swimmers and divers were honored on the Mountain West's 25^th Season Swimming and Diving Team, the conference announced Tuesday.
 
Nevada had four honorees on the diving side in En Tien Huang, Krysta Palmer, Sharae Zheng, and current Wolf Pack diver Melissa Mirafuentes. The four swimmers honored include Teresa Baerens, Yawen Li, Mengjiao (Jojo) Mi, and Benedict Nagy.

In her freshman season with the Pack, she was the Mountain West champion in the 200 freestyle. She placed fourth in the 200 IM (1:59.12) and sixth in the 100 freestyle (50.26). In her sophomore season, she went back-to-back in the 200 freestyle at conference championships breaking the school record with a time of 1:45.68. She also broke the 100 freestyle record with a mark of 49.14 placing third at conference championships. Baerens also placed third in the 200 IM with a time of 1:59.16 (2^nd fastest time in program history). She was a member of the four relay teams that set school records (400, 800, 200 medley, and 400 medley). In her junior season, she was a member of the 800 freestyle relay team that broke the school record, qualifying for the NCAA championships. At the Mountain West championships, she placed third in the 200 IM (2:01.96) and fourth in the 200 freestyle (1:47.49). She helped lead the Wolf Pack to an undefeated 10-0 record, the first Mountain West championship in program history and a top-25 CSCAA national ranking. In her senior season with the Pack, she won the 200 IM with a time of 1:58.92 and second in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:46.32. She competed as a member of Nevada's 400 (3:18.48) and 800 freestyle (7:07.78) relay teams.

In her freshman season, Li finished second in the 400 IM (4:12.74), seventh in the 200 IM (2:01.57), and fifth in the 200 breaststroke (2:12.78). In her sophomore season with the Pack, she earned a title in the 200 breaststroke at Mountain West Championships with a time of 2:10.15 and third in the 200 IM with a mark of 1:59.16. In 2015, she qualified for the NCAA Championships placing ninth in the 400 IM with a time of 4:05.56 which at the time was a Mountain West and program record, earning All-American accolades, and currently is the best time in Nevada history. She won gold medals in the 200 IM (1:57.59), 400 IM (4:07.65) and 200 breaststroke (2:08.49) at the Mountain West Championships. Her 200 breaststroke time at the conference championships set a program record, meet record, and pool record at the time. She still currently holds the best time in the 200 IM. In her senior season, she won Mountain West titles in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:10.58) and the 400 IM (4:09.89) and placed second in the 200 IM (1:59.31). She competed in those three events at the NCAA Championships, advancing for a third straight season, helping Nevada place 20^th in the meet as the highest scoring non-power five team. She helped lead the Wolf Pack to an undefeated 10-0 record, the first Mountain West championship in program history, and a top-25 CSCAA national ranking.

One of the most decorated swimmers in the history of the program winning a total of 49 individual events in four seasons and eight of those wins were gold medals at the Western Athletic Conference championships, and three at the Mountain West Championships. She holds the best times in Nevada history in the 500, 1000, and 1650 freestyle. She competed in the NCAA championships in three straight years and in 2013 becoming the first Nevada swimmer to compete in the NCAA Championships in three events since 2009. She won a total of 13 events as an individual in her senior season and set all-time records at Nevada at the time in the 200, 500, 1,000 and 1,650-yard freestyle, as well as the 800-yard freestyle relay. Mi set two Mountain West Championships records in 2013, including a time of 4:43.10 to win the 500-yard freestyle and a time of 1:46.36 to win the 200. She came back to Nevada in 2016 as the Pack's assistant coach, a member of the staff that led the team to the school's first Mountain West swimming and diving title in 2016.

Nagy placed first in the 400 IM at the Mountain West Championships in 2021, 2022, and 2023. Her best conference championship time in respective event came most recently in 2023 with a time of 4:11.29. In her sophomore season, she claimed the bronze medal in the 200 IM with a time of 2:00.75 and sixth in the 200 backstroke (2:00.46). Her senior season, in addition to her personal best in the 400 IM, placed third in the 200 IM at conference championships with a time of 1:59.58 and eighth in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:58.75. Nagy qualified for the NCAA championships in the 400 IM and posted a time of 4:15.06.

Huang took the Mountain West title in the 3-meter with a score of 339.30 and third in the platform dive with a score of 252.63. She earned all-conference honors finishing eighth in the 1-meter. In 2014, she defended her 3-meter Mountain West championship title. Huang won WAC Diver of the Year in 2011, the first Nevada diver to do so in nearly a decade. She was the Wolf Pack's highest scoring diver in each of the events in 2011-12.
 
Melissa Mirafuentes (Nevada, 2022-current); Wyoming 2019-22)

Current member of the Nevada swim and dive team. Transferred from Wyoming following  the 2022 season.
At Wyoming, Mirafuentes was the 2019-20 College Coaches Swimming and Diving Association (CSCAA) All-American selection. She qualified for the NCAA Championships in the platform after a third place finish (559.80) at the NCAA Zone E Championships. She claimed All-American honors after placing fifth in the platform at NCAA Championships (245.00) in 2021. She has won MW Diver of the Meet award two times at the Mountain West Conference Championships. She won the platform event at the 2021 MWC (280.50) and holds career best times at 2022 MWC Championships in the 1-meter (318.50), 3-meter (373.20) and platform (328.20).
At Nevada, she has qualified to compete at the NCAA Swim and Dive Championships, recording scores of 279.75 in the 3m springboard and 274.40 in the platform event in 2023, medaled twice at MWC with career best times in the 1-meter (347.00) earning a silver medal and bronze in the platform with a score of 276.50 claiming All-MW honors in each of the three diving events.

In sophomore season with the Pack, Palmer was named to the Mountain West Women's Swim and Dive All-Conference team… Placed ninth in the platform at NCAA Zone E Diving Regional (458.40)…At 2014 Mountain West Championships she placed second in the platform event (258.21) and third in the one-meter (291.42) and in the three-meter (317.64) and was named to the MW All-Academic All-Conference team. In her junior season, she was named Mountain West Diver of the Year after sweeping all three dive events at the Mountain West Championships, where she set a meet record in the one-meter (336.30) and a conference overall record in the platform with a score of 343.40. Competed in the 2015 NCAA Championships earning All-American honorable mention honors after placing 10^th in the three-meter springboard and 24^th on the platform. In her final season at Nevada, she defended her title in the platform event with a score of 362.15) and placed runner-up in the one-meter (331.50) and three-meter (396.20). Qualified for the 2016 NCAA Championships, placing ninth in the one-meter and tenth in the three-meter. Palmer qualified for the 2016 Olympic Trials, advancing to two final rounds placing fourth in the synchronized platform and ninth in the individual platform at the U.S. Olympic Dive Trials. Helped lead Nevada to its first MW championships in program history, a top-20 finish in the NCAA Championships, a 10-0 undefeated dual record and a top-25 CSCAA national ranking.
Palmer is an Olympic bronze medalist after placing third in the women's three-meter springboard at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Palmer will be representing Team USA at the Olympic trials in the women's 3-meter synchronized event.

In her first year at Nevada, Zheng swept the springboard national titles at the 2016 NCAA Championships in Atlanta, becoming just the third student-athlete in Wolf Pack history to win multiple Division I national titles in a single season, and Nevada's first national title in 14 years. She won the 1-meter with a score of 344.95 and the 3-meter with a score of 404.70. Won the Mountain West Conference in the 1-meter (334.25) and 3-meter (396.35). Zheng helped lead the Wolf Pack to an undefeated 10-0 record, the first Mountain West Championship in program history, and a top-25 CSCAA national ranking. In her junior season, Zheng broke the MW Championships record with a score of 359.35 in the 1-meter springboard. She set the MW all-time record in the 3-meter springboard, scoring a 421.45. She finished first in the platform dive (298.00) to become just the third diver in MW history to sweep all three diving competitions at the championships. Qualified for the NCAA championships, placing sixth in the 1-meter springboard (315.00) and seventh in the 3-meter with a score of 341.75. In her final season, she earned a silver in the 3-meter and bronze in the 1-meter at the NCAA Championships. She swept all three events at the conference championships for the second consecutive season and set a conference and school record doing so in the 3-meter springboard with a score of 424.53. Zheng won a Mountain West conference record of eight gold medals during her career.
