Nevada women’s basketball takes on SDSU in Pink Out, NGWSD Game

RENO, Nev. - Nevada women's basketball returns to Lawlor Events Center for its annual Pink Out/National Girls and Women's in Sports Day Game on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. against San Diego State.

To commemorate the 38th anniversary of NGWSD, Nevada will host a free pregame clinic with Nevada women's soccer, women's tennis, women's golf and women's volleyball on Feb. 14 at 5:45 p.m. at Lawlor Events Center.

Following the clinic, fans are invited to cheer on Nevada women's basketball. Tickets to Wednesday's game start at just $5 for youth and $7 for adults online. Kids eighth grade and under wearing their sports jerseys can purchase a discounted ticket for the game here.

Renown Health is the proud sponsor of Wednesday's game, with a Pink Out theme to support breast cancer awareness. Those who want to make a contribution can do so to Renown's Conrad Breast Center online here

Wednesday's game will be available to watch on the Nevada Sports Net/Mountain West Network and available to listen on KPLY 630 AM. Emmy award-winning broadcaster Larry Burnett will be on the radio play-by-play once again for Nevada women's basketball, where fans can also listen online through the Varsity Network.

SWEET STEALS
Nevada women's basketball has made getting steals and forcing turnovers a part of their identity. Nevada is currently 16th in the nation in steals and third in the Mountain West. The Pack opened the season with 23 steals Nov. 9, the fourth-most by a Wolf Pack squad in a single game in the NCAA Era. They collected 24 steals Dec. 16 against Stanislaus State, the third-most by a Nevada team in a single game in the NCAA Era. Guards Audrey Roden and Victoria Davis along with forward Lexie Givens also obtained the 100 career steals mark earlier this year.

BANWAREESINGH WITH THE BOARDS
Fifth year guard/forward has been a major contributor to Nevada's bench this season. Banwareesingh has two double-digit rebounding games while wearing a Nevada uniform, most recently obtaining 14 boards Feb. 7 at Air Force. The Bronx, New York, native had 10 rebounds in the first half and was two rebounds shy of matching a career-high. Banwareesingh, who has the longest last name on Nevada, is nicknamed "Kay B" by the team. When her great, great, great grandfather went to get his passport in Trinidad, the passport company put his middle name "Banwaree" with his last name, "Singh". The last name stuck with the Banwareesingh family for years to come.

EARLY WORK
Nevada has two freshmen in Dymonique Maxie and Izzy Sullivan that are climbing the freshmen ranks in the NCAA Era. Maxie currently has the fourth-most steals by a Nevada freshman. Maxie needs 19 more steals to claim the Nevada Freshmen Steals Record set by Carissa Meyer (1994-95). Sullivan is currently third among Nevada freshmen in the NCAA Era in made 3-pointers in a single season. She needs 13 more to claim the Nevada Freshmen 3-Pointers Record set by current Nevada teammate Audrey Roden

RISING IN THE RANKS
Nevada currently ranks in the top four in the Mountain West in several categories. Nevada is second in the conference in steals per game (8.36) and offensive rebounds per game (12.55). The Pack is currently third in 3-point field goal percentage defense (29.7%) and steals (92) while ranking fourth in offensive rebounding percentage (32.4%).

SCOUTING SAN DIEGO STATE
San Diego State sits just a half game ahead of Nevada in the Mountain West standings, with the winner owning the final tiebreaker in the head-to-head matchup. After losing four conference games, San Diego State has won five out of its last six games to jump to the top of the Mountain West standings.

Four out of San Diego State's starting five averages at least 10 points per game, led by Adryana Quezada (14.6 points per game). Kim Villalobos (10.9 ppg), Abby Prohaska (10.7 ppg) and Jada Lewis (10.3 ppg) are also scoring threats for the Aztecs.
