SPOKANE, Wash. - Â The multis duo made up of
Valeria Paez Rueda and
Kate Kadrmas represented the Pack in the pentathlon Thursday afternoon to begin the first day of the Riverfront Invitational and Multis, hosted by Washington State at The Podium.

Paez Rueda shined all the way through the afternoon after setting new personal records in four of the five events in the pentathlon, coming away with the ninth best mark in Nevada school history in the event with 3,550 points, finishing 11
th overall, while Kadrmas placed 14
th (3,293 points) to set a new Nevada personal record, only just off her all-time record by 88 points.

The afternoon kicked off with the 60-meter hurdles where both Kadrmas and Paez Rueda saw new personal records. Kadrmas saw a mark of 9.01, putting her at a new Nevada personal record and just off her all-time personal record by just nine one hundredths (8.92) set back in 2021. Kadrmas finished 10
th overall with 908 points to start the afternoon. Paez Rueda set a new personal record time (9.09) by six one hundredths of a second to place 12
th overall with 891 points after the first event.

Moving on to the high jump, Paez Rueda shined as she reached her second personal record of the day in 1.65 meters. She first tied her previous personal record (1.62 meters) on the second attempt at that mark before reaching 1.65 meters also on the second attempt. Paez Rueda moved up six spots in the standings to sit sixth heading into the shot put. Kadrmas saw a mark of 1.50 meters, sitting in 14
th after the second event of the afternoon.

In shot put, Kadrmas led the way with a mark of 11.14 meters to place sixth while Paez Rueda finished 12
th (10.72 meters). In the standings, the pair continued to sit in the upper half of the ranks, with Paez Rueda in eighth (2,263 points) and Kadrmas 14
th (2,133 points) with two more events to round out the afternoon.

Paez Rueda continued to shine as she secured her third new personal record of the day in the long jump with a mark of 5.32 meters, besting her previous set at the 2023 Washington State Open (5.23 meters). Her mark allowed her to finish tied for eighth overall in the event and move up one spot in the standings in seventh with 2,911 points. Kadrmas finished 15
th overall with a mark of 4.99 meters, sitting in 15
th with 2,690 points as the duo set to round out the pentathlon in the 800 meters.

To wrap the first day of the invitational, Paez Rueda and Kadrmas finished 15
th and 16
th respectively with Paez Rueda setting her fifth personal record of the day with a time of 2:34.36 while Kadrmas saw a time of 2:37.37.

Nevada will continue the Riverfront Invitational Friday afternoon beginning at 2:00 p.m. with the high jump.
