Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Nevada Falls To Washington State At Home

Reno, Nev. - The Wolf Pack fell to the Washington State Cougars in a lopsided 57-68 loss at home. Nevada shot 38.6 percent from the field and a season-low 20 percent from three-point range. In addition, in their first actual road game, Washington State held Nevada to a season-low in points, with 57 points.

On the other hand, Washington State finished the game shooting 41.7 percent from the field and 41.4 percent from three-point range. Isaiah Watts led the Cougars in scoring with 17 points and five three-pointers. LeJuan Watts followed with 13 points. Kobe Sanders was the leading scorer for Nevada, scoring 14 points, and Justin McBride scored 11 points.

First Half

The physical matchup between the Wolf Pack and Cougars came out unusually slow to start the game. While the Cougars began to gain momentum, shots continued not to fall for the Wolf Pack as the Wolf Pack shot a season-low 35.9 percent from the field and 6.67 percent from the three-point line, only making 1 of 15 attempts in the first.

Washington State led a considerable amount of the game and built momentum in the 1st half, going into halftime with a ten-point lead going into the half.

Second Half

Washington State maintained its control and restarted unusually slowly. Nevada, in return, became more aggressive on defense, which caused many turnovers in the second half for the Cougars, which gave the Pack momentum, cutting the lead to as low as nine.

However, it was not enough for the Wolf Pack as the Cougs continued to convert and continued their efforts to pull out the 57-68 win over the Wolf Pack. This will be considered a Quad 1 win for the Cougars in their first road game.

Notable Stats:
  • Nevada and Washington State were even in turnovers, with each team tallying 15 total turnovers.
  • The Cougars held Nevada to a season-low in points 57, and a shooting percentage from three totaling 20 percent.
  • Nevada and Washington State were even in steals, with both teams tallying six steals
  • Nevada won the battle from the bench, scoring 30 points to their 16 points.
