Box Score Los Angeles, Calif. - Nevada suffered an unexpected loss to LMU in their first road game of the 2024-25 season, giving the Wolf Pack a 6-3 record in nine games. This marks the Wolf Pack's second consecutive defeat at Gersten Pavilion in two years. In addition, this also marks the second straight game the Wolf Pack shot below 30 percent from three point range.
The Wolf Pack were led by Kobe Sanders, who contributed 13 points, seven rebounds, and four assists. Brandon Love also made a strong impact with 13 points, including 5-6 shooting from the free-throw line.
Loyola Marymount was led by Alex Merkviladze, who scored 19 points while shooting 5-11 from three-point range. Stone Carrawell added 15 points, shooting 5-10 from the field and 3-5 from beyond the arc. The Lions finished the game with four players scoring in double digits.
First Half:
Nevada struggled offensively in the first half, with the starters shooting just 6-26 from the field. Their three-point shooting was particularly poor, as they managed only 2-12 (16.7%) from beyond the arc. Meanwhile, LMU capitalized on Nevada's struggles, hitting 8-18 (44.44%) from three-point range. At halftime, Nevada found themselves trailing by 10 points, 35-25.
Second Half:
Nevada fell behind by 17 points in the second half with under 17 minutes to play. However, the Wolf Pack mounted a spirited comeback during the second half. Big shots from guys like Kobe Sanders, Tyler Rolison, Justin McBride, Brandon Love, and K.J. Hymes, amongst a few others, helped the Wolf Pack eventually take a 58-57 lead with 5:48 remaining. Despite their improved shooting—12-25 (48%) from the field and a perfect 12-12 from the free-throw line—they could not hold off LMU. The game was tied at 60-60 with five minutes left, but LMU regained control and secured a 68-64 victory.
