Reno, Nev. - Nevada pulls off a much-needed win at home in the Lawlor Events Center against the South Dakota State Jackrabbits in a 77 - 63 battle. Nevada surged to 7 - 3 on the year, notably from a propelling second half that included a big run from the Wolf Pack in the second half.
The head of the snake for the Jackrabbits in Oscar Cluff was held to a season-low six points and four rebounds, with his season-low prior being 14 points and nine rebounds. The Wolf Pack had four players score in double figures tonight, with the team overall shooting 55.6 percent from the field and 39.4 percent from three. Where Nevada the last two games prior shot below thirty percent from three in both games.
First Half
Nevada struggled defensively in the first half, in what would be considered by most as a battle of three-pointers, with Nevada shooting 40.7 percent from three on 19 attempts and South Dakota State shooting 50 percent on 19 attempts as well.
The Jackrabbits seemed to pull away, ending the half up seven by capitalizing on Nevada's late defensive scrambles and converting off of the Wolf Pack's six turnovers. The Wolf Pack went into the second half with a disadvantage, trailing the Jackrabbits 30 - 37.
Second Half
The second-half fight from the Wolf Pack turned the tide for Nevada. The battle was back and forth until Nevada decided to show us who they matched up to be through grit and effort on both ends.
Players such as Davidson, Rolison, DuSell, and Coleman, amongst others, all knocked down big shots, producing a notable 25 - 4 run to go up 57 -46 as well as hold South Dakota State scoreless for 5:22. The separator in that moment was key for the Wolf Pack to finalize the game with the win. Nevada ended the game shooting 55.6 percent from the field, 39.4 percent from three, and 80 percent from the free throw line to get the necessary win.
Nick Davidson led the Wolf Pack in scoring with 16 points, six rebounds, and six assists, shooting 71.4 percent from the field and 66.7 percent from three on three attempts.
Tyler Rolison had a spectacular game off the bench, posing a new career high in 14 points on 66 percent shooting.
Tre Coleman had a great bounce-back game with 13 points, six assists, and two rebounds, shooting 50 percent from the field and 37 percent from three.
Xavier DuSell had a notable performance, notching 11 points on 50 percent shooting and 42.8 percent in three.
