Box Score STATELINE, Nev. - In a little piece of history held at the Tahoe Blue Event Center, Nevada women's basketball took on Colorado on Tuesday night. The Pack battled for the entire 40, but ultimately fell to the Buffaloes, 78-59.
The contest was the first college basketball game to be held at the Tahoe Blue Event Center.
Despite Nevada having a hard time to get shots to fall in the first quarter, it kept the game close, only trailing by three to close it out. The Pack was down early as the Buffaloes opened up with a 5-0 run.
Audrey Roden gave Nevada its first points of the game with seven and a half to play in the opener quarter.
Colorado went up by as much as nine at one point, but a six-point run, capped off by a buzzer-beater three by
Dymonique Maxie, brought Nevada within three.
Quarter two began with two made free throws by
Lexie Givens that brought the Pack within one. Colorado's offense began to pull away again, but Nevada continued to play strong and cut into any lead the Buffaloes tried to create.
After playing down by nine again, the Pack were back within two after a 7-0 run which caused the Buffaloes to call time.
Colorado drew a bit of a lead again, Nevada down, 34-26 at the half.
The Wolf Pack struggled to regain their rhythm after the break, trailing 58-43 heading into the final 10. The offensive struggles for Nevada continued through the fourth quarter as Colorado built on its lead. Nevada ultimately was unable to build a comeback.
Givens led the Pack in scoring and rebounds with 17 and eight, respectfully.
Kennedy Lee tallied 15 points.
Nevada will head to Southern California to take on UC Santa Barbara on Thursday at 7 PM.
