Nevada Falls in Five to UNLV in the Silver State Series

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Nevada Wolf Pack battled fiercely but ultimately fell in a five-set thriller to UNLV during the Silver State Series presented by America First Credit Union at the Cox Pavilion. Despite a resilient performance, Nevada dropped the match 3-2 (22-25, 25-21, 18-25, 25-23, 13-15).

The match opened with UNLV taking a close 25-22 first set, but Nevada responded strongly in the second. Tehya Maeva's setting and Bella Snyder's aggressive serving played a major role in the Pack's ability to take control late in the match, ultimately leading to a 25-21 set two victory. However, UNLV surged ahead in the third set with a 25-18 win, capitalizing on Wolf Pack errors.

Gabby McLaughlin led the Wolf Pack's offensive efforts with 16 kills, including several key strikes in the second and fourth sets that kept Nevada in contention. McLaughlin's consistency at the net helped Nevada overcome a tough start, particularly in the second set, where her kills were crucial. She also contributed defensively with 17 digs.

Sia Liilii was another offensive threat for the Wolf Pack tonight with 12 kills. As well as Carissa Chainey with 10.

Maeva played a pivotal role in orchestrating the offense, dishing out 21 assists. Maeva's precision in setting allowed her hitters to find rhythm throughout the match. She also contributed seven kills to her stat line.

Snyder, who recorded 5 kills, also made her presence felt at the service line, contributing two aces that helped Nevada stay competitive, especially in the tight fourth set, which the Wolf Pack won 25-23.

Libero Kinsley Singleton recorded 10 digs. Her defensive efforts were instrumental in keeping rallies alive throughout all five sets.

In the final set, both teams fought point-for-point, helping Nevada to stay level with UNLV. However, despite their best efforts, the Wolf Pack couldn't hold off UNLV's attack, falling 15-13 in the final set.

With the loss, Nevada falls to 8-7 overall and 1-2 in Mountain West play. The Wolf Pack will look to bounce back on Saturday when they face San Diego State.
