RENO, Nev. - Cal Poly transfer
Kobe Sanders has been announced as the Mountain West Conference's Preseason Newcomer of the Year for Nevada's 2024-25 season.
Kobe Sanders, a 6-foot-9, 207-pound guard from San Diego, is already making waves before playing his first game for Nevada. The former Cal Poly standout was named the Mountain West's Preseason Newcomer of the Year following a stellar season with the Mustangs. Kobe averaged 19.7 points, 3.7 assists, and 3.2 rebounds per game. He's preparing to take on a more significant role with the Wolf Pack.
Nevada head coach
Steve Alford is counting on Sanders to step in as the team's point guard, but the expectations go beyond just running the offense. Alford is looking to Sanders to take on a leadership role both on the court and in the locker room, helping guide a team with plenty of new faces. With his size, skill, and experience, Sanders is uniquely positioned to bring the team together and set the tone for the season.
His ability to score, create for others, and provide steady play will be essential for Nevada as they aim to compete in a tough Mountain West conference. More importantly, Sanders' leadership could be the glue that holds the Wolf Pack together as they build chemistry and push toward their goals this season.
