Maeva recorded her second service ace of the set to help Nevada go up 9-8 over San Jose State. A 3-0 run by the Spartans gave them the 15-13 lead at the media timeout after back-to-back kills by San Jose State's Mari Lawton and Letzia Cammillucci. The Spartans continued their momentum going on a 2-0 run to force the Pack to call timeout as they trailed by four 17-13. Two kills in a row for Nevada including an attack error by the Spartans allowed the Pack to come within one. San Jose State called a timeout after Nevada bounced back on a 3-0 run of their own to tie the set at 19-19 with a kill from Snyder and Clarke as well as a block assist for Clarke with Schwartz. The Pack continued their run, adding two more points to the board with back-to-back kills from Schwartz, going up 22-19. Nevada reached set point before securing the first set with a service ace from Clarke, winning 25-21.

Nevada jumped up 2-0 to start the second set after Liilii's third kill of the match followed by Clarke's second service ace. The Spartans then fired back, tying things up at 4-4 but the Pack didn't allow that to last very long. A 3-0 Nevada run with a kill and a service ace from McLaughlin extended their lead 9-5 over San Jose State. The Spartans came within one after a service error by the Pack before a kill from San Jose State's Brooke Bryant tied things up at 11-11. Two errors by the Spartans gave Nevada the lead again and their own set point, sitting at 26-25. Ultimately, San Jose State prevailed to win the second set after an attack error by Nevada's McLaughlin gave the Spartans the final point to tie the match 1-1.

San Jose State tried to cut their deficit scoring two points with back-to-back kills from Jiana Lawson and Nayeli Ti'a, but the Pack scored two more to lead by five, 19-14.
