Nevada track and field put up some of the best and memorable performances around the board during both the indoor and outdoor seasons. The Wolf Pack's run during indoor jumpstarted the momentum that would carry through to the outdoor season after finishing the 2023 Indoor Mountain West Championships in February with three school records, two conference champions, and a fifth-place finish, recording the most points ever scored at the indoor championships since joining the Mountain West (59 points). The team tied their highest place finish from 2022, and the 4x400 relay team (
Halyn Senegal,
Emily Costello, Lilly Gregg, and
Annalies Kalma) claimed the title for the first time in Mountain West and school history, going on to wrap the season with eight Mountain West Indoor All-Conference honors.
With a quick turnaround right into the outdoor season in mid-March, the Wolf Pack did not let up, bringing the heat into the Outdoor Mountain West Championships where fifth-year
Emily Costello earned her first individual career Mountain West gold medal, the 4x400 meter relay team shattered the school record by six seconds, what would be just the second consecutive time they would break their own school record throughout the season, and the team placed sixth overall (65 points), earning five Mountain West Outdoor All-Conference honors.
The NCAA West Preliminaries did not disappoint after the 4x400 meter relay finished up the meet going out in style by qualifying for the NCAA championships for the first time in school history, once again breaking their school record for the third time consecutively by two more seconds, running the 12
th fastest time in the West, and the fourth fastest time in the Division I Mountain Region this season (3:33.85).
With the performance at the NCAA Championships marking an end to a memorable season, the team will look towards the future and picking up with the beginning of the indoor season next winter.
