RENO, Nev. - The Nevada head softball coach Linda Garza announced Matlyn Leetch to join the Wolf Pack team next season.
Leetch is an infielder/outfielder transfer from Mt. Hood Community College. The Jordan, Utah native was part of the softball and track and field team, where she set the school record for stolen bases and hits, earned the 2022 NFCA Golden Shoe Award, was a 2x Southern Region NWAC First team for infield, First Team All-Tournament NWACs in 2022, and a 2023 NWAC Track and Field All-American for 4x100 Relay.
During her time at Mt. Hood Community College, Leetch received a degree in Associate of General Studies, Associate of Oregon Transfer, and Associate of Art. The transfer was a letter winner in Softball (2022 and 2023) and Track and Field (2023). Leetch was a member of the 2022 NWAC championship team, where she finished the season with a .543 batting average, 44 SB, 101 Hits, 74 Runs, and 4 Triples. In 2023, Leetch concluded the season with a .509 batting average, 67 Runs, 7 HR, 9 Triples, and 82 Hits.
Leetch chose Nevada over Eastern Oregon University and Southern Oregon University because "I saw a lot of what I wanted out of a program, the laughs, the love, and the dedication is everything you want to see when you think of Division 1 softball. I felt like I had already made friends on my first day there, and the coaches treated me like I was already part of the Pack, and I couldn't ask for more" says the Mt. Hood Community College transfer.
