RENO, Nev. – Nevada women's tennis falls for the first time at home to the Fresno State Bulldogs 4-2, moving to 6-7 on the season and 1-4 in Mountain West play.
The Bulldogs captured the doubles point after sweeping Nevada's
Mariana Campino and Amahée Charrier at No. 1, pulling off a 6-0 victory, while Carlotta Marzano Nonnis and Carolina Piferi took the Pack's
Anastasia Luneva and
Lou-Anne Guerbert 7-5 at No. 2.
In singles, Fresno State took the first point to take the 2-0 lead over Nevada. Pang Jittakoat defeated Amahée Charrier 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1.
Audrey Moutama earned Nevada's first point of the day at No. 6, taking Fresno State's Mariya Vyshkina in a straight-sets victory 6-2, 6-1, to bring the Pack within one. The Bulldogs responded with Carolina Piferi's win at No. 4 over
Mariana Campino 6-2, 6-3, putting Fresno State up 3-1.
Nevada's
Wiem Boubaker took her Fresno State counterpart, Carlotta Marzano Nonnis to a 6-3, 6-1 straight-sets victory at No. 5, once again to bring the Pack within one against the Bulldogs before Cristina Flaquer secured the match for Fresno State with her victory over Nevada's
Lou-Anne Guerbert 7-5, 6-2.
The Pack will look to wrap up their last home match of the season Saturday, as they take on San Jose State at 10 a.m.
