Nevada women’s basketball adds La Salle transfer Claire Jacobs

RENO, Nev. - Claire Jacobs, a former Atlantic 10 All-Conference guard from La Salle, will join Nevada women's basketball for the 2023-24 season.

Jacobs, a 6 foot guard from Australia, led La Salle in scoring last season with 12.5 points per game.

"We are ecstatic to welcome Claire into the Nevada women's basketball family," head coach Amanda Levens said. "Her length and skill will give us increased depth at the guard spot. Claire's previous experience will make an immediate impact on our program. As a person, she fits right into our culture. Claire is a huge addition for Nevada women's basketball."

Prior to being La Salle's leading scorer this past year, Jacobs reached the 1,000-point milestone during the 2021-22 season. She became the 27th player in program history to score 1,000 points and the third-fastest La Salle student-athlete to hit that mark. In addition to ranking 11th in the Atlantic 10 in 3-point field goals per game (1.8), she scored 10.3 points per game en route to All-Big 5 Second Team honors.

During the 2020-21 season, Jacobs became the fastest player in La Salle women's basketball history to score 500 career points. She led La Salle in scoring as a sophomore with a 16.3 points per game average and earned spots on the Atlantic 10 All-Conference Third Team and All-Big 5 First Team.

Jacobs' impact was immediate in her first season with the Explorers, where her 412 points on the year were the most by a freshman player in La Salle women's basketball history. Her 29 points on Jan. 29, 2020 against George Mason set a program record for most points in a game by a La Salle freshman. She also led Atlantic-10 freshmen in total points (247) and was second in points per game (15.4) in conference play while leading the Explorers in scoring. For her performance, Jacobs was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team and All-Big 5 Second Team.

In Australia, Jacobs led the Australian U18 State Team in scoring and ranked 14th in the country during the Australian National Championships. She was a member of the Australian School D1 Championship team and was named the 2018 Australian School D1 Finals MVP. She graduated from Kennedy Baptist College in that same year.

Nevada women's basketball has a fun-filled summer schedule, starting with the annual Golf Outing on June 23. Summer camps run June 24-25, July 25-27 and August 26. Registration and more information can be found on nevadawolfpack.com/sports/womens-basketball.
