The Pack (7-5) is coming off of a key midweek win at USC Wednesday night. Nevada pitching shut down the Trojan offense in a 3-2 victory.
All games this weekend will be broadcast locally in Reno on KHIT 94.1 FM/1450 AM, and online through The Varsity Network app, with Josh Suchon on the call. The whole series will be streamed on the Mountain West Network and Mountain West app.
ABOUT FRESNO STATE
Fresno State (6-5, 0-2 MW) opened its week Tuesday with a 5-4 home win over Pacific. The win stopped a two-game slide during which the Bulldogs dropped its first two Mountain West games at San José State before last Sunday's finale was postponed due to rain.
Tommy Hopfe leads the Bulldogs with a .311 batting average and seven RBIs, while Nikoh Mitchell has hit a team-high two homers. On the mound, Jake Dixon is 2-1 with a 4.91 ERA, and Ixan Henderson is 1-1 with a 3.52 ERA and a team-high 20 strikeouts.
LAST TIME OUT
Nevada posted its biggest win of the season Wednesday night, extending its season-best winning streak to four with a 3-2 win at USC.
The Wolf Pack pitchers were nails in the contest, led by starter Peyton Stumbo. Stumbo evened his season record at 1-1, going six innings over which he allowed just two runs on three hits with three strikeouts. Four relievers combined to go the final three innings, with Kolby Kmetko picking up his third save with a scoreless ninth. Overall, the Pack hurlers held USC to just three hits, and the Trojans were hitless over the final 6.1 innings.
SOLIDIFYING THE CLOSER ROLE Junior Kolby Kmetko, a transfer from Washington State, has nailed down the closer role for the Pack early on this season. Kmetko picked up his third save of the year Wednesday at USC, tossing a scoreless ninth and striking out two. On the year, Kmetko has nine strikeouts over 6.0 innings pitched.
