RENO, Nev. - The Nevada Men's Basketball team limited LMU to just 59 points on 33.9 percent shooting from the field and 30 percent from behind the arc, as the Wolf Pack earned a dominant 73-59 victory over the Lions to remain undefeated and improve to 6-0 on the season.
Nevada controlled the game from start to finish, as they never trailed in the contest and held the lead for 39:42 throughout the game.
Defensively, the Pack completely dominated the contest, limiting LMU to the least number of points that they have scored in a game this season, as well as their lowest field goal percentage in a contest this year.
Nevada forced 12 LMU turnovers and recorded seven blocks, the second most that they have tallied in a game this season.
Offensively, Nevada was unstoppable in the paint, as they scored 36 points in the lane. The Pack was particularly impressive in that area in the second half, outscoring LMU in the paint in the second half, 20-4.
Nevada shot 44.6 percent from the field (25-56) and 77.8 percent from the free throw line (21-27), and the Pack recorded 17 assists on 25 made field goals.
Individually, Jarod Lucas led a trio of Wolf Pack players in double figures with a game-high 20 points on an efficient 7-10 shooting from the field and 1-2 from behind the arc. Lucas also pulled down two rebounds and dished out two assists, while completing the game with a plus/minus of 15 in 32 minutes of action.
Nick Davidson finished second on the team in scoring, putting up 12 points on 3-6 shooting from the field and a perfect 6-6 at the free throw line. Davidson got it done defensively all night for the Pack, and the redshirt-sophomore tallied two blocks in the game.
Junior forward Tre Coleman had another exceptional all-around performance for Nevada, scoring 10 points, pulling down six rebounds, dishing out two assists, recording two blocks, and tallying one steal. Coleman was 5-8 from the field, and recorded a plus/minus of +15 in 26 minutes of game time.
K.J. Hymes was dominant in the paint for the Pack all night long, and the graduate student scored eight points, pulled down five rebounds, and tallied one block in the game.
Despite only scoring five points, fifth-year senior point guard Kenan Blackshear was incredibly effective in the game for Nevada, as he tallied a game-high five assists, pulled down three rebounds, recorded three steals, and earned a game-high plus/minus of +17 in 30 minutes of playing time.
Senior Daniel Foster was tremendous off the bench for Nevada, scoring eight points, pulling down a game-high seven rebounds, dishing out three assists, tallying two steals, and recording one block. Foster was 3-4 from the field and 2-3 from the free throw line, and three of his seven rebounds came on the offensive glass.
Hunter McIntosh also made a strong impact on the game off the bench for the Pack, scoring seven points on 2-5 shooting from the field.
First Half
Lucas got things going for the Pack, hitting a difficult pull up jump shot on the Pack's first possession off an assist from Coleman. After the Pack got a stop on the defensive end of the floor, Lucas drilled a contested 3-pointer, giving Nevada a 5-0 lead 58 seconds into the game.
LMU scored their first basket of the game at the 17:40 mark, however, Lucas continued his hot start, as he drained another pull up jumper to put the Pack up 7-2 with 17:34 left in the first half.
The Lions managed to trim the Pack's lead down to two points at the 14:34 mark, with Nevada holding a 13-11 advantage over LMU.
The Pack quickly reeled off a 6-0 run to push their lead back up to eight with 11:14 left in the first period.
LMU continued to battle back; but, the Pack continued to answer on both ends of the court. Nevada extended their lead up to 10 points with 5:41 remaining in the first after Coleman finished a layup off a pass from McIntosh, giving the Pack a 30-20 advantage.
Nevada pushed their lead up to 14 following two free throws from Lucas with 1:12 left until halftime. A layup at the buzzer from LMU cut Nevada's lead to 12, as the Pack took a 38-26 advantage into the break.
Second Half
Nevada came out firing on all cylinders to begin the second period, as the Pack ripped off a 13-5 over the first 4:59 of the second half, taking a 51-31 lead over LMU with 15:01 left in the game.
The Pack continued to pour it on, building their lead to as much as 25 points at the 8:26 mark in the second period, and they cruised their way to a 73-59 victory to earn their sixth consecutive win to begin the season and remain undefeated.
Nevada is one of 15 teams in the nation who are yet to sustain a loss this season following Saturday's victory.
