Sullivan named Mountain West Freshman of the Week

RENO, Nev. - Nevada women's basketball freshman guard Izzy Sullivan has been named Mountain West Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

Sullivan is coming off a career-high 20 points and registered her first 20-point game at the college level Saturday against Stanislaus State. Her 20 points marked the first time a Nevada freshman scored 20 points since Dec. 4, 2021 (Audrey Roden, 22 points at Pacific).

The Sammamish, Washington, native shot 6-for-8 from 3-point range, good for the seventh in program history for most 3-pointers made in a single game. She is the first Nevada player since 2018 to knock down at least six 3-pointers in a game.

In addition to her sharp shooting off the bench, Sullivan also had a career-high three steals and helped Nevada to a season-high 24 steals, the third most in program history in a single game in the NCAA Era.

Sullivan has seen action in all but one game for Nevada during the 2023-24 season, currently leading Nevada in 3-point shooting (53.3%). Going 3-for-3 from beyond the arc, she registered her first collegiate double-digit game of 11 points against Pepperdine (Nov. 17). She also tallied 16 points against UC Santa Barbara (Dec. 2), again going 3-for-3 from 3-point range.

At Eastside Catholic High School in Seattle, Sullivan set the school record for most 3-pointers in a game with six and for 3-pointers in a single season with 65. Earning All-Metro First Team honors, she guided Eastside Catholic to a fifth place finish in the 3A Washington state playoffs in 2020. Sullivan was also ranked as the No. 1 shooting guard in the state of Washington.

Nevada women's basketball goes back on the road before the holidays, taking on Western Kentucky and BYU at the Missouri State Tournament in Springfield, Missouri, starting Wednesday.
