Blake’s late goal makes Nevada soccer victorious at Air Force

USAFA, Colo. - Nevada soccer fifth year midfielder Brooklyn Blake scored the lone goal in the 83rd minute that helped the Pack collect a road win at Air Force 1-0 Sunday afternoon.

Blake accumulated her second goal of the season and her seventh career goal. Junior forward Emily Rich picked up her 11th career assist off Blake's goal, moving into fourth on the program's career assists list. Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Ally Larkin collected her third collegiate shutout while tallying four saves.

With Nevada and Air Force tied in the Mountain West standings heading into Sunday, the two teams looked to control the possession in the opening minutes. While Air Force got its offense started by firing a pair of shots in the first 10 minutes, Nevada looked to take the early lead with a pair of shots on goal.

Air Force came up with the saves that kept the match scoreless and looked to gain the advantage with seven minutes to play. Led by Nevada's back line, the Pack's organization on defense prevented Air Force's pair of shots from going on target. The Pack's back line blocked the Falcons' final shot of the half to keep things scoreless after the first 45 minutes.

After Larkin came up with a clutch save in the 50th minute to keep the match tied, the redshirt freshman goalkeeper and the Nevada back line continued the dominating defense. Air Force looked to take advantage of an open shot opportunity inside the penalty area in the 79th minute, but the reigning Mountain West Defensive Player/Freshman of the Week prevented the ball from reaching the back of the net.

The Pack turned its defense into offense in its next shot opportunity, with Rich quickly feeding the ball to Blake for the first score of the match with seven minutes left. Following another save by Larkin in the 87th minute, Air Force looked to capitalize off its final chance of the afternoon. Continuing to be organized to protect the lead, Nevada's back line once again continued its excellent defense by forcing Air Force's final shot to go up top in the 89th minute.

Nevada returns to Mackay Stadium for a pair of home matches starting Thursday at 7 p.m. against New Mexico for Kick Out Cancer/Pack Goes Pink Night. Single match tickets start at just $7 online and can be purchased here
