Nevada softball releases 2023 schedule

RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada softball team has released its 2023 spring schedule, head coach Linda Garza announced Monday.
 
SPRING SCHEDULE
Nevada's 52-game slate includes five tournaments and 22 conference games in the season. The Pack will have 21 home games, including one home tournament, eight mid-week non-conference games, and 11 away games in the conference schedule. 
 
Nevada will face three Power 5 teams, UCLA, Michigan, and Stanford. For the first time in school history, the Pack will host UCLA at Christina Hixson Park. 
 
The squad will start the season at the Cal Poly tournament, where they will face North Dakota, UC Santa Barbara, and Cal Poly on Feb. 10-12. Nevada will travel to Rock Hill, S.C., to the Winthrop tournament on Feb. 17-19 and face North Carolina A&T, Queens, Marist, and Winthrop. 
 
The Pack will continue on the road and head to Stanford & Pacific tournament on Feb. 24-26. Nevada will face Michigan and Stanford in Palo Alto, Calif., before heading to Stockton, Calif. for a three-game stand against Pacific. It will be the first time the Pack faces the Wolverines in school history. 
 
For the final away tournament of the season, the Pack will participate in the Florida International tournament, March 3-5. Nevada is set to play against Stony Brook, Stone Hill, and the host team, FIU. 
 
The Pack will end the non-conference play at Christina Hixson Park as they host the first Judy Sather Nevada Classic, March 10-12. The squad will face Texas A&M Commerce and Southern Utah to close non-conference play. 
 
Nevada will start conference play on the road as they head to San Jose, Calif., to face San José State, March 17-19. 
 
The Wolf Pack will return home for a seven-home stand series against in-state rivals UNLV (March 24-26), UCLA (March 28), and Utah State (March 31-April 2).
 
Nevada will travel for two mid-week games against Sacramento State on April 4 and a doubleheader against Santa Clara on April 5. 
 
Following the mid-week games, the Pack will travel to Boise, Idaho, for a doubleheader against Boise State on April 12. The squad returns to Hixson Park to face San Diego State on April 15-16. 
 
Nevada will go on the road to Fresno, Calif., to face Fresno State, April 21-23, and to Albuquerque, N.M., to play against New Mexico, April 28-30. 
 
The Pack will return home for a mid-week doubleheader against Idaho State on May 1. The final home series of the regular season will be against Colorado State, May 4-6. 
 
BACK WITH THE PACK
The Pack will return with 11 members from last season's team, including Freshman of the Year Aaliyah Jenkins and First-Team All-Conference Chelie Senini
 
Jenkins finished the season with a .299 batting average, 144 appearances at-bat resulting in 31 runs, 43 hits, ten double-hits, and one triple-hit. The Hayward native appeared in the conference rankings and led Nevada with 13 home runs and 47 RBI during the season. 
 
Senini set a new school and conference record for most stolen bases in the season, with 48 stolen bases in 51 attempts. The Reno native was also the top member of the Pack offense with a .346 batting average in 179 at-bat appearances. Senini was ranked first in the conference with 62 hits and second in runs scored with 46 and was the top player of the Pack offense with three doubles, three triples, one home run, and 12 RBIs. 
 
WELCOME TO THE PACK
Nevada will welcome 13 newcomers to the squad this upcoming season. Blake Craft and Tyra Clary will get help in the circle with the addition of Brooklyn Trujillo-Quintana (RHP) and Carley Brown (RHP). Newcomers, Gabby Herrera (UTL), Reagann Hoblit (UTL), Madison Clark (UTL), Haley Painter (UTL), Haylee Englebrecht (UTL), Andrea Lira (UTL), Maya Larsen (UTL), Bridgette Gilliano (IF), Maile Olsen (IF), Hannah Di Genova (1B), and Hailey Prahm (1B) will all showcase and help the Wolf Pack.
