RENO, Nev. -- The Nevada football team today, led by Head Coach
Ken Wilson, has announced the signing of inside linebacker Junior Walling from Oregon State.
Walling did not play over his first two seasons with Oregon State and has four years of eligibility remaining. He joins the Wolf Pack after starting for all four seasons at McNary High School.
Rated three stars by both 247Sports and Rivals coming out of high school after playing every position but offensive line during his career at McNary. Saw the most action at linebacker and running back. Walling ended his high school career with 41 consecutive starts and earned Conference Defensive Player of the Year as a senior.
Walling was named First-Team all-league at linebacker as a sophomore, junior and senior. First-team all-league at running back as a junior and senior and second-team as a sophomore. He earned Honorable Mention honors at safety as a freshman.
The 6'1 inside linebacker earned team captain as a junior and senior. Walling ended his high school career with 355 tackles, 57 tackles for loss, and 23 sacks. Offensively, he ran for 2,972 yards and 35 touchdowns with eight TD receptions.
On the defensive side of the ball, Walling made 92 tackles and 12 tackles for loss with four sacks and one interception as a senior in 2019. Offensively, he carried the ball 143 times for 930 yards and 14 touchdowns and caught 20 passes for 287 yards and two touchdowns.
During his junior season, made 86 tackles and 16 tackles for loss with five sacks as a junior. Rushed 210 times for 1,005 yards and 12 touchdowns and made 13 receptions for 91 yards and two scores. As a sophomore finished with 88 tackles including 22 tackles for loss alongside 12 sacks. Rushed for 1,036 yards and nine touchdowns on 212 carries. Made 15 pass receptions for 223 yards and four touchdowns.
Made 89 tackles during his freshman season including seven tackles for loss with two sacks.
