AUGUST 18 (18 DAYS TO KICKOFF)

Tuesday's practice at John Sala Intramural Practice Fields took place under a moderately warm sun and featured some outstanding plays from both sides of the ball.

The Wolf Pack defense made key stops during team periods, while on offense third-year tight end Carter Eck impressed with a leaping, arms-extended catch that drew hollers from the sidelines.

Nevada also put a focus on special teams periods, going live on punt return reps as competition for roles on special teams continued.

The day wrapped with the team's second “Team Olympics” competition of camp, this one being a Home Run Derby during which teams attempted to hit tennis balls into the second deck of Mackay Stadium's east end.

TURNER NAMED TO DOAK WALKER AWARD WATCH LIST: The preseason watch lists including members of the Wolf Pack continued Tuesday as running back Herschel Turner was named a nominee for the Doak Walker Award, given annually to the top running back in the country.

Turner, entering his third collegiate season and second with the Wolf Pack in 2026, averaged 5.1 yards per carry in 2025, going for 353 yards on 69 attempts while starting four of the 10 games in which he appeared. Some of his top performances from a year ago include a 90-yard effort on just 12 carries against Middle Tennessee, 62 yards on 13 carries at Western Kentucky and 77 yards on just seven attempts against Boise State.

He earned multiple preseason accolades earlier this summer, being named to the preseason All-Mountain West teams of Athlon Sports (Third Team) and Phil Steele (Fourth Team) ahead of Fall Camp.

AUGUST 15 (21 DAYS TO KICKOFF)

The first scrimmage of Fall Camp was held on a sunny Saturday morning at Mackay Stadium, with the Wolf Pack offense and defense finally squaring off.

The scrimmage marked the end of the first full week of camp with position battles continuing as coaches looked to have the Wolf Pack depth chart further clarified.

Quarterbacks Luke Duncan and Carter Jones each showed well in the scrimmage, leading the Wolf Pack offense on touchdown drives and moving the ball downfield effectively against the defense. Duncan impressed especially with a downfield completion inside the five-yard line to Donnie Cheers, while Jones showed his growing effectiveness as a run-pass threat in keeping the Wolf Pack defense guessing.

The show-stealers Saturday were the Wolf Pack wide receivers. In addition to Cheers' downfield catch early on, Gary Givens III showed why head coach Jeff Choate and wide receivers coach Keith Price have talked him up throughout spring ball and Fall Camp, closing a strong scrimmage with a leaping scoring grab in the back of the end zone.

Nevada will hold its final full week of Fall Camp Monday through Friday of this coming week, with the final scrimmage set for Friday morning at Mackay Stadium.

AUGUST 14 (22 DAYS TO KICKOFF)

Nevada held a shortened workout Friday at John Sala Intramural Practice Field, doing final prep and tuneups for Saturday's scrimmage.

The approximately 90-minute workout was full of energy as the Pack looked forward to its first full-contact scrimmage of camp set for Saturday morning in Mackay Stadium.

Earlier in the day, Nevada received more national recognition as Dylan LaBarbera, Zach Cochnauer and Joe McFadden were all named to HERO Sports' Group of Six Preseason All-America Teams.

THREE WOLF PACK NAMED TO PRESEASON ALL-AMERICA TEAMS: HERO Sports announced its Group of Six Preseason All-America Teams Friday, with the Wolf Pack landing three members. EDGE Dylan LaBarbera and offensive tackle Zach Cochnauer were named to the First Team while kicker Joe McFadden earned a spot on the Third Team.

Nevada opens the 2026 season with two-straight home contests, first hosting defending New Orleans Bowl champion Western Kentucky Saturday, September 5 at 7:30 p.m. before facing reigning FCS champion Montana State Saturday, September 12 at 7:30 p.m. The Wolf Pack opens Mountain West play Saturday, Sept. 26 hosting Air Force.

AUGUST 13 (23 DAYS TO KICKOFF)

Fall Camp continued Thursday with a special night practice in Mackay Stadium as the Wolf Pack prepared for Saturday's first team scrimmage.

Some cloud cover made for a comfortable temperature during the workout. The Pack was in shorts and helmets for the workout, going over schemes, scripts and preparation for Saturday.

After practice, Special Teams Coordinator Parker Henry met with the media to discuss the Wolf Pack's unit. Australian imports Ewan Baulch and Jacob Fernandez met with the local media as well as local product and longsnapper Cian Stack.

AUGUST 11 (25 DAYS TO KICKOFF)

The Wolf Pack held its first practice of Fall Camp in Mackay Stadium Tuesday, and for the first time donned full pads with full contact.

The upgrade to full pads clearly energized the Pack, as the popping of pads and the sounds of football emanated from Mackay.

The increased intensity was most felt at the end of practice, when the Wolf Pack went into its goal line session. Both units were vocal and pumped up ahead of the practice period, which featured some key defensive stops as well as the offense pounding the ball into the end zone on other reps.

At the end of practice, head coach Jeff Choate fired up the Wolf Pack and told them they would be back in pads the next day and to keep up the intensity ahead of the team's first scrimmage this Saturday.

Tuesday opened with two pieces of positive news for the Wolf Pack as running back Ky Woods and EDGE Dylan LaBarbera earned spots on the national preseason watch lists of the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy and Lombardi Award, respectively.

KY WOODS NAMED TO ALLSTATE WUERFFEL TROPHY WATCH LIST: Running back Ky Woods was named to the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy Preseason Watch List, honoring Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) players who lead through community service while excelling in the classroom and on the field.

It is Woods' second national recognition of the preseason, as in July he was named a nominee for the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team.

Woods enters his third season with the Wolf Pack in 2026 and has developed into one of the programs leaders on and off the field. One of the senior members of the team as he heads into his fifth season of college football, Woods has stepped up as a program leader, playing a key role especially as one of the program's faces in the community.

That role included Woods serving as the team's primary emcee during June's Third Annual Nevada Football and Regional Law Enforcement Charity Softball Game and Battle of the Badges Tournament. Behind the scenes, Woods has also worked with various units within the athletics department regarding the organization of football student-athletes when a community service event is on the horizon.

He has also participated in Visit Reno Tahoe's Packed Days Initiative which highlights the off-field activities of Wolf Pack student-athletes. Through the creation of social media reels, among other channels, the initiative platforms a first-person perspective of Nevada student-athletes' favorite locations in the Reno Tahoe area.

LABARBERA NAMED TO ANOTHER PRESEASON WATCH LIST: EDGE Dylan LaBarbera continued to collect preseason honors Tuesday, being recognized as a candidate for the Lombardi Award by the Rotary Club of Houston and the Lombardi Award Committee.

The award, which recognizes the top college football lineman or linebacker of the year, features 54 members on this season's preseason watch list. LaBarbera is one of two Mountain West representatives on the list, with New Mexico's Jaxton Eck.

LaBarbera was named to the Preseason All-Mountain West Team at the conference's football media days in July, and already this month has earned spots on the preseason watch list of the Bronko Nagurski Trophy and the Shriners Children's East-West Bowl 1000 list.

AUGUST 8 (28 DAYS TO KICKOFF)

Nevada held its fourth practice of Fall Camp Saturday, heading off-site and getting its workout in on the grass of Reno High School.

The practice opened with some cloud cover before the Reno sun burned some of it away. But the Wolf Pack had one of its most energetic workouts of camp as the change of scenery had a positive effect. Renewed energy, big plays, and plenty of talking and whooping it up dominated the Saturday practice.

One of the top plays of the day which brought one of the biggest reactions was a one-handed interception by Aiden Walker. The preseason All-Mountain West defensive back reached high with one hand and snatched away what looked like a sure completion to wide receiver Damien Morgan, touching off a vocal celebration among the Wolf Pack defense.

The regimented day continued with the players boarding the busses for the return to campus, followed by a lunch break before afternoon meetings.

The day concluded with the much-anticipated Nevada Football Fan Fest at Mackay Stadium. In addition to a gear sale and food trucks, families and Wolf Pack fans enjoyed lawn games, a bounce house, and practicing football with the Wolf Pack. Fun from the event can be seen in the photo gallery above.

The highlight of Fan Fest came when the Pack unveiled the return of the black uniforms. Nevada will wear the black uniforms against New Mexico on Friday, Nov. 6.

AUGUST 7 (29 DAYS TO KICKOFF)

While the Wolf Pack is 29 days away from its opening kickoff against Western Kentucky Saturday, September 5 at Mackay Stadium, the Pack and its fans are just a day away from 2026 Fan Fest!

Wolf Pack fans can meet the 2026 squad this Saturday, August 8, from 5-7 p.m. at Fan Fest. The event at Mackay Stadium is free to the public and features an address from Choate, a meet-and-greet with the team, autographs, food trucks, and activities for the whole family.

Friday's practice wrapped up the first week of Fall Camp, as the Pack once again practiced on the John Sala Intramural Practice Fields. The team continued its acclimatization period but the ramp-up in intensity could be felt. The weather remained stable with the sun shining down on the newly laid-down turf as the Pack resiliently battled through sweat and heat.

After practice it was third-year defensive coordinator Kane Ioane who was up in front of media. Ioane addressed the 2026 Wolf Pack defense, which made an incredible season-to-season turnaround in 2025. Nevada produced one of the Mountain West's top pass rushes along with a secondary among the conference's best in takeaways.

The Wolf Pack defense did not allow a 300-yard passer all season, and allowed just one opposing player to hit the 100-yard rushing mark in 2025. The defense improved to fifth in the conference in both rushing defense (149.58 ypg) and passing defense (220.25 ypg) while storming opposing backfields to the tune of 65 tackles-for-loss

“I'm excited about where we're at based on years past, the process these guys have been on going all the way back to January 21. These guys have really attacked every day and in turn, I do feel like we're way ahead,” Ioane said. “It's the small things, the little details we've emphasized with them. How we practice, the things we're asking of them over the course of practice, little discipline things as far as where they're at on the sidelines, the way they finish every rep, how we expect them to run to the football. Some of the install we've been able to get to, we're well-advanced in that regard in comparison to where we've been in years past. That speaks very well of this group and really our coaching staff and its ability to get our guys ready to roll.”

The Pack will hold a Saturday morning practice to officially complete the first week of camp before settling into a full week of action beginning with Monday's practice.

AUGUST 6 (30 DAYS TO KICKOFF)

2026 Nevada Wolf Pack Football Fall Camp continued Thursday on John Sala Intramural Practice Fields.

Day 2 of camp was a bit warmer than the opening day as the slight cloud cover of the first day gave way to clear blue skies and sunshine Thursday.

The extra degrees to the thermostat did not faze the Wolf Pack, which kept its eyes on the task ahead and put in a solid second day. Thursday's practice in helmets and shorts continued the acclimitization process for the team, gradually preparing the Pack for full-contact action in the coming days.

After practice, offensive coordinator Brett Bartolone and quarterbacks AJ Bianco, Luke Duncan and Carter Jones spoke to the media. The quartet addressed quarterback play and what the Wolf Pack staff will be looking for ahead of the decision of naming the starting signal-caller.

“Whenever you put in a new system you gotta figure out ‘Who do we got?’ and ‘What are they good at?' across the board. Through the summer, it's like, we know who we got now it's designing an offense and putting those guys in the best position to be successful. That's been the focus for us throughout the summer and it will be throughout camp," Bartolone said about the Wolf Pack offense.

In his camp-opening press conference, head coach Jeff Choate acknowledged that the quarterback decision would be one of, if not the most, important decision for the coaching staff to make in camp.

"From a priority standpoint I think obviously the quarterback battle is front and center. That's the thing that we're going to be leaning into and really kind of examining with a fine-tooth comb every single day. And it's not just the measurable things, it's not just completion percentage and explosive plays, it's getting into situations where are they are moving the offense whether they're with the one group or the two group, and are they efficiently moving the ball."

Jones took over the Wolf Pack's starting job as a true freshman in the sixth game of last season and was QB1 the rest of the way. Bianco enters his fifth year at Nevada, with 23 appearances and three starts under his belt, while Duncan spent 2023-25 at UCLA where he appeared in three games with one start.

AUGUST 5 (31 DAYS TO KICKOFF)

The 2026 Nevada Wolf Pack Football team officially opened its Fall Camp Wednesday. The first practice of Fall Camp took place on a warm Wednesday morning on the John Sala Intramural Practice Fields just east of Mackay Stadium.

The Pack put the first of its 25 practices in the books, beginning a 31-day path towards opening kickoff Saturday, September 5 against Western Kentucky at 7:30 p.m. at Mackay Stadium.

Following the practice, third-year head coach Jeff Choate held a Fall Camp-opening press conference, detailing the position battles to unfold and the expectations for the Wolf Pack ahead of the opener against the Hilltoppers.

“It's like Christmas morning, you don't sleep a lot the night before. You start formulating things in your brain that aren't necessarily there then you go out and you realize ‘its just football, okay let’s go to work,'” Choate said about the first day back on the field.

Choate noted his observations of the first practice of camp, particularly what he saw from his veterans and leaders as he enters year three at the Wolf Pack helm. He even cut right to the chase and announced offensive tackle Jack Foster and EDGE Dylan LaBarbera as the team's 2026 captains.

“From a positive standpoint [I] really felt like I saw leadership out of our veteran guys. I mean, guys like Jack [Foster] and Dylan [LaBarbera]. I think those guys have kind of become the north star in terms of this is what it looks like if you want to be great. I think that's awesome. And by the way, those two guys are our captains. There's no disputing who our team captains are,” Choate said.
