Nevada Men's Basketball Signs Darrion Williams

RENO, Nev. – Nevada Men's Basketball announced the signing of Darrion Williams (Las Vegas, Nev. / Bishop Gorman HS) to a National Letter of Intent, Monday.

Williams, a 6-foot-6 power forward and four-star recruit according to ESPN, helped lead Bishop Gorman to the NIAA 5A title game at Lawlor Events Center in February. He was named Nevada's Gatorade Player of the Year in March.

"We are very excited adding Darrion to our roster. He brings a high basketball IQ, versatility, and the ability to shoot. He's a winner, coming from a great program at Bishop Gorman," said Nevada head coach Steve Alford.

Williams, who transferred to Bishop Gorman following two seasons at Capital Christian High School in Sacramento, played his sole season for the Gaels in 2021-22 after the 2020-21 campaign was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In his only season at Bishop Gorman, Williams was named the Southern 5A Co-Player of the Year, averaging 15.2 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 4.0 steals per game as the Gaels went 30-1 and were ranked as high as fourth in the nation.

Over his two varsity seasons at Capital Christian, Williams averaged 9.0 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.8 blocks per game. As a sophomore, he scored 11.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.8 blocks a game.

Williams joins Trey Pettigrew (Chicago, Ill. / Kenwood Academy) in Nevada's signing class ahead of the 2022-23 season.
