RENO, Nev. - Nevada women's tennis put forth a strong effort in Thursday's Silver State Series matchup with UNLV, but, in the end, fell 4-2 to the Rebels.

The Pack (8-8, 2-5 MW) nearly got the early edge in doubles play, but had the point slip through its fingers. The teams split the first two matches, with the tandem of Mariana Campino and Selina Turulja rolling to a 6-2 victory at No. 1, but UNLV's No. 3 team of Aura Fang and CoCo Zhao outlasted Gabriella Charalampidi and Cristina Moll Alles, 7-6, to give the Rebels (15-4, 5-2 MW) the point.

Nevada took a 2-1 lead in the match as Campino and Turulja continued their solid match. Campino beat Zita Kovacs, 6-2, 6-1 for the Pack's first point, with Turulja also notching a straight-sets win, 6-4, 6-3 over Hu, at No. 4.

But the Rebels would come back to claim the next three results to clinch the match. Izumi Asano defeated Moll Alles, 1-6, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 3 to get the fourth point for UNLV.

Nevada concludes its home slate Saturday against San Diego State, with first serve set for 11 a.m.
