SAN DIEGO, CALIF. – The Nevada Wolf Pack multi's started competition in San Diego with the first four events of the heptathlon completed.
Starting in the afternoon, the first event of the heptathlon kicked off for the four Pack athletes. The 100 meter hurdles saw senior Nicola Ader finish in first with her time of 14.07. The next three athletes would finish fifth through seventh, starting with senior Hanah Smrt who finished with a time of 14.82. In sixth was senior Anna Maria Sommerfeld with her time of 14.91, while sophomore Kate Kadrmas finished in seventh with a time of 15.09.
The next event in the heptathlon was the high jump, which saw Ader finish with the top Pack mark. Her height of 1.68m was good enough for a third place finish. In fifth was Smrt, who tied her personal best with a height of 1.59m. Finishing in eighth with a distance of 1.53m was Sommerfeld, and finishing just behind her in ninth was Kadrmas with her mark of 1.50m.
In the shot put, all athletes would once again finish in the top-10. Ader finished in fourth with a mark of 10.84m. Just behind her was Sommerfeld who earned a distance of 10.50m. Kadrmas ended this event in seventh with her mark of 9.79m. Lastly, earning a personal best in the event was Smrt who earned a mark of 9.21m. This beating her old personal best of 8.85m and putting her in ninth.
Finally, the 200m dash saw a trio of Pack athletes finish in the three-four-five spot. In third was Sommerfeld, who finished with a time of 25.68. Just off her personal best mark of 25.18. Ader would finish the event in fourth with her time of 25.86. Her time also just barely missing her personal best time of 25.61. Smrt would finish in fifth with her second personal best mark of 25.89. Beating her old mark of 25.98.
At the conclusion of the events, Nicola Ader sits in second with a point total of 3,192. In fifth-place is Anna Sommerfeld with her point total of 2,896. Just behind her in sixth is Hanah Smrt, who has 2,875 total points. Wrapping up the group in ninth is Kate Kadrmas with her point total of 2,691.
The four athletes will look to finish the final three events in the heptathlon tomorrow with the long jump starting at 10 a.m.
