RENO, Nev. – The Nevada swim and dive team travels to the Mountain West Championships this week. The championships will be at College Station, Texas on Feb. 16-19. Live scoring and streaming of the 2022 Mountain West Women's Swimming & Diving Championships will be available on the official Mountain West Swimming and Diving Championships page.

2021 MW CHAMPIONSHIPS
Nevada took second at the 2021 Mountain West Championships after being out-touched by UNLV in the 400 free relay, the final event of the meet, by one-tenth of a second.
The Pack registered 1,340 points and collected a total of 19 medals (six gold, five silver, eight bronze) over the meet's 21 events.
Senior Julia Adamczyk was Pack's most decorated performer of the meet, taking home a team-high three gold medals (200 Fly, 200 IM, 400 MR) and two bronze (400 IM, 200 MR).
Senior Donna dePolo picked first in the 200 breaststroke while finishing third in the 100 breaststroke, right after her teammate Wiktoria Samula, who finished second in the event.
Junior Benedict Nagy picked a first-place in the 400 IM, while Laura Isabel Vazquez Lopes won the 3-meter springboard.
LAST TIME OUT
The last time Nevada swim and dive were in the pool, the team fell to Washington State 142-119. The Pack finished the meet with six first-place finishes, including Seniors Donna dePolo and Samula, who continue to dominate the breaststroke events. DePolo and Samula tied in first place in the 100 breaststroke, with a time of 1:03.40, while Samula secured a second individual win in the 200 breaststroke, with a time of 2:17.74, while dePolo finished third, with a time of 2:18.93.
WOLF PACK DIVERS ARE THE BEST
The last time Nevada divers were in the pool, the team sweep all the events against in-state rival UNLV. Senior Laura Isabel Vazquez Lopez led the Pack and finished first in both 1 and 3-meter with final scores of 298.28 and 343.65.
In addition, Pack divers Jessie Nowotny and Bailey Heydra claimed second and third in the 3-meter, with final scores of 322.35 and 315.75, respectively. Senior Linnea Sorensen finished the event in fifth, with a score of 287.70.
In the 1-meter, Vazquez Lopez was followed by Sorensen in second (278.93), Nowotny in fourth (265.80), and Heydra in seventh (211.58).
NEVADA ON THE RANKINGS
Nevada ranks second in the 100 breaststroke with dePolo, 1000 freestyle, and 1650 freestyle with McHugh in the conference standings. The 800 freestyle relay squad is ranked second in the conference. The Pack is also ranked third in the 50 backstroke and 100 butterfly, with Josien Wijkhuijs, 100 breaststroke, with Wiktoria Samula, 200 breaststroke with dePolo, and in the 500 freestyle with McHugh. The 200 and 400 medley relay squad are also ranked third after their performance in the Art Adamson Invitational.
MOUNTAIN WEST ACCOLADES
Nevada notched one Mountain West freshman of the week accolade due to Lucia Gabino's performance against Arkansas. The freshman picked a first place in the 1-meter springboard with a score of 295.58.
WELCOME TO THE PACK
Nevada welcomed three newcomers to the squad in the spring. Bailey Heydra (Diver, South Africa), Reka Nagy (Swimmer, Hungary), and Daniela Piccinini (Swimmer, Italy) now join Gabino in the 2022 Nevada swim and dive freshmen class.
