Desmond Cambridge Jr. appeared to have found his shooting touch again over the five games prior to Tuesday's game against Colorado State, having averaged 16.6 points, with 14 3-pointers.
Against the Rams, he proved he was definitely back, torching Colorado State for a career-high 36 points on 13-for-15 shooting, including a 7-for-9 effort from deep. The 36 points eclipsed his previous career high of 33, set against Marist on Dec. 22, 2017, while playing for Brown. Cambridge Jr.'s 13 field goals also marked a career high, and his seven triples matched his career high.
THIRTY-POINT GAMES
Desmond Cambridge Jr.'s 36-point performance Tuesday night was his second 30-point game in a Nevada uniform. His first came in last season's Mountain West Tournament quarterfinal win over Boise State, in which he went for 31.
Along with
Grant Sherfield's 31-point game Nov. 23 against George Mason at the Crossover Classic in Sioux Falls, S.D., Nevada now has a pair of 30-point games in 2021-22.
