Nevada falls 3-2 to Air Force

USAF Academy, Colo. - Nevada fought hard against the Air Force Falcons but fell short with a 3-2 loss Saturday afternoon.

Gabby McLaughlin led the offense with 17 kills and four service aces. McLaughlin was also a key player in the Pack defense, with 20 digs and three blocks recorded in the match.

Rylie Romero came in from the bench and led the Pack in assists, with 26 recorded in the match.

How it happened

Nevada battled through set one as they kept the score tied to the 11-11 mark. The Falcons had a scoring run of four points that forced the Pack to call a timeout. Nevada fought back by stopping the Falcons from closing the set three times, but not enough, as Air Force won set one, 25-21.

The Pack jumped on the scoreboard first on the second set. The Falcons came back, and they tied the game 5-5. Air Force reversed the score to take the lead. The Pack got the set tie, but the Falcons continued with their momentum and closed the game 26-24.

Nevada did not let the Falcons' score influence their game, as they started the set with a 6-1 lead. The Pack kept the momentum going to win the third set 25-19.

In the fourth set, both teams were going back and forth on the scoreboard. Nevada stayed in the lead until the 17-12 mark, where the Falcons were forced to call a timeout. The Falcons tied the game, 23-23, but the Pack closed the set, 26-24, on an Air Force attack error.

In the final set, the Pack jumped on the scoreboard first as they took a 12-8 lead. The Falcons made a 3-score run that reversed the score to win the set, 15-13, and the match 3-2.
