ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Nevada volleyball fell the match 3-0 against the New Mexico Lobos Thursday afternoon.
Gabby McLaughlin and Kayla Afoa led the offense with ten kills each. McLaughlin registered seven digs in the back row, while Afoa recorded 16 digs and one assist in the match.
Andrea Alcaraz served as the primary setter for the Pack with 12 assists. Alcaraz was also the leader of the Pack defense, with 17 digs recorded.
Sia Liilii and Jordan Schwartz defended the net with five blocks each.
How it happened
The Lobos did not waste any time jumping on the scoreboard as they opened a 15-9 lead going into the media timeout. The Pack continued to fight as they kept the game within four points until a five-point score run by New Mexico closed the set 25-14.
Nevada did not let New Mexico open a large margin of points in the second set, as they kept the game within one up until the 15-14 mark, where a kill by Schwartz tied the game, 15-15. The Lobos took over the lead and closed the set 25-19.
The final set was no different for the Lobos, as they started with a 3-0 lead. The Pack scored and kept the game within one point until the media timeout. New Mexico opened a 7-point lead that closed the set, 25-18, and the match 3-0 for the Lobos.
