Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Late goal gives Colorado College win over Nevada

RENO, Nev. - A goal with 12 minutes remaining in the match allowed Colorado College to take a 1-0 win over Nevada women's soccer on Sunday at Mackay Stadium.

Even on a chilly, windy afternoon, the Pack's fans showed out in the final home match of the season. Sunday's attendance of 503 was the ninth-highest attendance for a Nevada women's soccer match in the last decade.

Motivated to send their seniors out with a bang, the Pack pushed the offensive tempo. With Colorado College pressing on offense, Nevada returned the favor. Nevada fired a season-high 10 first half shots, but went into the locker room scoreless after the first 45 minutes.

Colorado College looked to get on the board early in the second half, but the playmaking ability of fifth year goalkeeper Kendal Stovall kept the match tied in the 51st minute. The Tigers looked to capitalize off a one-on-one opportunity before Stovall jumped in front of the attacker to deflect the shot. The Mililani, Hawaii, native bounced back up following the rebound to snag another save seconds later.

Following a back-and-forth battle in the second half, a goal in the 78th minute gave Colorado College the 1-0 advantage. The Pack continued to push for a score by firing seven shots in the final 12 minutes, but the Colorado College defense prevented the ball from finding the back of the net to clinch the shutout.

Nevada wraps up the 2022 season on the road at UNLV in the Silver State Series on Thursday at 7 p.m.
