SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Nevada women's tennis kept its record unblemished as it opened the weekend with a 4-1 victory at Santa Clara, Saturday.
For the second-straight year,
Milka Genkova clinched a Pack victory over the Broncos (0-2), but this time it didn't come down to a dramatic final-match situation. Genkova, playing at the No. 2 singles spot, reeled off a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Finley Kalinic to clinch the dual. Her victory followed singles wins from
Mariana Campino at No. 4 (6-1, 6-1 over Katherine Petty) and
Selina Turulja at No. 5 (6-1, 6-1 over Varya Zlotnik.
Nevada (3-0) took the doubles point with two quick wins. Campino and Turulja picked up a 6-3 win over Giulia Hayer and Petty at No. 2, before Genkova and Gabrielle Charalampidi beat Zlotnik and Velizara Fileva, 6-3, at No. 3.
The Pack closes the weekend Sunday at UC Davis, with first serve scheduled for 11 a.m.
