Reno, Nev. - The Nevada swim and dive are back at Lombardi pool to host the Washington State Cougars on Friday, Jan. 28 at 5 p.m. The meet will also recognize seniors Julia Adamczyk, Emma Brady, Mikayla Dance, Donna dePolo, Reese Lamph, Montana Lloyd, Caitlyn McHugh, Gianni Pitto, and Linnea Sorensen for their career accomplishments at Nevada.
The meet is free admission to any fans that would like to attend, with a cannonball contest happening between our football players and free pizza to the first 75 fans attending.
LAST TIME OUT
Last weekend, Nevada battled in-state rival UNLV at the Buchanan Natatorium. The Pack fell against the Rebels with a final score of 167-128.
ABOUT THE COUGARS
The last time the Cougars were at the pool, the team participated at the Phil Hansel Invitational on Nov. 18-20. The squad finished in 4th place with a final score of 923 points. Senior, Taylor McCoy broke two school records, after posting 1:56.12 in the 200 back, and 4:14.58 in the 400 IM, both being NCAA "B" times.
Senior, Chloe Larson was another member of the Cougars that added an NCAA "B" cut in the 100 free with a 49.02 in the finals. Larson also recorded a second NCAA "B" cut that week, after swimming the 50 free in 22.38.
As a team, the Cougars posted two school records in the free relays. Staring with the 200 free relay, the team of Larson, Angela Di Palo, Paige Gardner, and Noelle Harvey broke the school record with a 1:30.99. In the 400 free relay, the team of Larson, Di Palo, Emily Barrier, and freshman Selena Duran beat the record after recording a 3:19.23 in the event.
