Las Vegas, Nev. - The Nevada swim and dive falls to in-state rivals UNLV on Saturday morning, 167-128.
The day started at Flagstaff, Ariz. with the Nevada divers claiming wins in both diving events. Senior,
Laura Isabel Vazquez Lopez led the Pack and finished first in both 1 and 3-meter with final scores of 298.28 and 343.65.
In addition, Pack divers
Jessie Nowotny and
Bailey Heydra claimed second and third in the 3-meter, with final scores of 322.35 and 315.75, respectively. Senior,
Linnea Sorensen finished the event in fifth, with a score of 287.70.
In the 1-meter, Vazquez Lopez was followed by Sorensen in second (278.93), Nowotny in fourth (265.80), and Heydra in seventh (211.58).
On the swim side, senior
Wiktoria Samula claimed two individual wins of her own. Samula came out on top in the 100 breaststroke, with a time of 1:02.43, and in the 200 breaststroke, with a time of 2:16.52. The senior was followed by
Donna dePolo, who finished with a time of 1:02.72 and 2:18.36, respectively. DePolo closed the day by finishing second in the 200 IM, with a time of 2:07.41.
Junior
Benedict Nagy, followed dePolo in the 200 IM finishing third, with a time of 2:08.70. Nagy also claimed second place in the 200 back, with a time of 2:06.10.
Senior,
Caitlyn McHugh finished the 200 free in second, with a time of 1:53.34. McHugh was followed by
Mariana Vignoli, who finished with a time of 1:54.25. Vignoli also swam the 500 free, and claimed second place, with a time of 5:12.70.
Senior,
Josien Wijkhuijs claimed two-second places after swimming the 100 butterfly (58.00) and 100 backstroke (56.14).
The Pack relays claimed two second places in the dual. The 400 medley relay, finished with a time of 3:49.14, while the 200 free finished with a time of 1:37.29.
