SPOKANE, Wash. -Â Nevada suffered its first loss of the young campaign Friday afternoon, falling 4-0 at Gonzaga.
Gonzaga (2-0) quickly nabbed the doubles point, picking up wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions. At No. 1, Nevada's
Juan Batalla and
Ambroise Marchand fell, 6-3, to Gonzaga's tandem of Matthew Hollingworth and Sasha Turkulja, while at No. 3, the Pack team of
Delmas N'Tcha and
Gilad Tamar fell, 6-2, to Tom Hann and Arthus Bassetiere.
In singles play,
Matheo Coupu battled into a third set at No. 1 against Trkulja, trailing 3-6, 6-4, 2-3 in a tightly-contested match before Gonzaga clinched the dual.
The Bulldogs clinched the match with wins at Nos. 2, 3, and 6. At No. 2, Hollingworth defeated Batalla, 6-2, 6-2. The next court over, Oliver Andersson beat
Loris Zisswiller, 6-0, 6-2, and at No. 6, Leon Roider defeated
Satchel Benn, 6-4, 6-4.
Nevada (3-1) continues its weekend in Spokane Saturday at 3 p.m., taking on Seattle University.
