The Wolf Pack makes its second trip to Colorado in 10 days, heading to Fort Collins to take on Colorado State Tuesday, Jan. 25, at 8 p.m. PT.
Nevada finishes the week with a Saturday night home date against Utah State at 7 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
Nevada and Wyoming were running neck-and-neck until a nearly four-minute field-goal drought for the Wolf Pack sent it to a 77-67 defeat.
Down just two at 57-55 with just over eight minutes to play, Nevada went nearly four minutes without a field goal, while Wyoming used an 11-1 run to go up 12 and take control with four minutes to play.
Grant Sherfield posted his ninth 20-point game of the season, finishing right at the number, and passing out eight assists.
Kenan Blackshear posted another strong line, going for 11 points and a season-high eight rebounds.
SCOUTING FRESNO STATE
Fresno State (13-4, 3-1 MW) has won its past three games after dropping its first conference game to Boise State in December.
The Bulldogs are led by the play of Orlando Robinson, who is averaging 19.3 points and 8.7 rebounds per game while shooting 50.0 percent from the field and 79.2 percent from the line. Robinson's scoring average is twice that of the next Bulldog, Anthony Holland (9.2 ppg). The Bulldogs boast one of the top defenses in the country, ranking second nationally with just 56.5 points per game allowed.
STREAKING AGAINST THE 'DOGS
Nevada is currently on an eight-game winning streak against Fresno State, including a two-game home sweep of the Bulldogs last year.
Last season, the Pack racked up double-digit victories in each meeting, with
Grant Sherfield going for 25.0 points per game (23 in the opener, 27 in the second), and 12 total assists. The Pack defense did well to limit Orlando Robinson, holding him to just 15 points in each contest.
SHERFIELD REACHES 1,000 CAREER POINTS
Junior point guard
Grant Sherfield hit the 1,000-Point milestone for his career in Monday's contest against Wyoming. He entered the contest with 999 career points, and crossed the barrier with a 3-pointer 3:48 into the contest. He went on to finish the game with 20 points, bringing his career tally to 1,019.
For Sherfield, 776 of his career points have come at Nevada, with 243 coming in his freshman campaign (2019-20) at Wichita State. He joins
Desmond Cambridge Jr. as Nevada's two 1,000-point scorers on the roster (Cambridge Jr.'s 1,600 career points is also combined between two schools: Nevada and Brown).
