UP NEXT
The Wolf Pack plays two of its next three at home, hosting Fresno State (Jan. 21) and Utah State (Jan. 29) around a Jan. 25 date at Colorado State.
From there, the Pack plays its first of two road back-to-backs, traveling to UNLV for a Feb. 1 meeting before going straight to Fresno  for the return contest with the Bulldogs, Feb. 4.
LAST TIME OUT
Nevada played its first road Mountain West contest of the campaign Saturday, defeating Air Force, 75-68.
Grant Sherfield posted his eighth 20-point performance of the season, finishing with 21.
Will Baker got his second double-double of the year, finishing with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while
Warren Washington had 12 points with nine boards.
The Pack fought off late Air Force rallies, as the Falcons thrice cut the Nevada lead to five in the final minutes. But each time, Nevada had an answer, first with a key triple from Sherfield, then with a big three-point play from Washington.
Kenan Blackshear, who finished with 11 points, iced the game with a pair of free throws in the final minute.
SCOUTING WYOMING
Wyoming (12-2, 1-0 MW) played its first game of its Mountain West campaign Saturday night, defeating Utah State, 71-69. Saturday night's game was the Cowboys' first since a 77-57 Christmas Day win over South Florida at the Diamond Head Classic.
The Cowboys are led by the play of Graham Ike (19.7 ppg, 8.4 rpg, 55.7 FG pct.) and Hunter Maldonado (17.6 ppg, 5.7 rpg).
PLAYING SOME REGULAR BALL
Nevada's current three-games-in-six days stretch, which ends Monday against Wyoming, is a welcome opportunity for some consistent basketball.
The Wolf Pack has persevered going on two months with COVID breaks postponing its scheduled games. Since its 79-66 win over Pepperdine on Nov. 30, Nevada has had six games canceled or postponed. The Pack has also had two periods of at least 10 days between games since Dec. 1: Dec. 1-15 (resuming play against Minnesota Duluth Dec. 15) and Dec. 19-Dec. 29 (resuming play Dec. 29 at Kansas). Monday's game against Wyoming will be just the seventh over a span of 48 days.
SHERFIELD APPROACHING 1,000 CAREER POINTS
Junior point guard
Grant Sherfield will hit a major career milestone in Monday's game against Wyoming, sitting just one point shy of 1,000 for his career.
Sherfield entered Saturday's game at Air Force at 978 career points, and scored 21 to leave him at 999.
For Sherfield, 756 of his career points have come at Nevada, with 243 coming in his freshman campaign (2019-20) at Wichita State. Once he hits the 1,000-point mark, he will join
Desmond Cambridge Jr. as Nevada's two 1,000-point scorers (Cambridge Jr.'s 1,594 career points is also combined between two schools: Nevada and Brown).
"BIG" PLAY INSIDE
With KJ Hymes' return to action Jan. 12, the Pack now has its full complement of paint depth, which greatly helped in Saturday's win at Air Force.
Together, seven-footers
Warren Washington and
Will Baker, along with the 6-foot-10 Hymes, combined for 25 points on 71.4-percent shooting (10-for-14) and 20 rebounds. Baker posted an 11-point, 10-rebound double-double, while Washington scored 12 points with nine boards, in the win. The trio played a key role in Nevada winning the rebounding battle by a 41-25 margin.
PHYSICAL PLAY FROM FOSTER
Sophomore
Daniel Foster has earned regular playing time and become one of the Pack's valuable role players, thanks in part to the Australian's willingness to draw contact.
On defense, Foster is one of the Pack's leaders in drawing charges, while his aggressiveness on the offensive end was on display Saturday at Air Force. Constantly attacking the Falcon paint, Foster drew a team-high seven fouls, which led to career highs in free throws made (eight) and attempted (10). For the game, Foster scored a season-high eight points and set or matched career bests in rebounds (seven) and assists (five).
