Reno, Nev. - The Nevada volleyball team drops to in-state rival UNLV this Saturday. The Pack fell in three sets to the Rebels, 25-16, 25-20, and 25-13 at the Virginia Street Gym.
Leading the Pack was senior,
Kyla Waiters with seven kills, followed by sophomore
Reka Monteleone, and freshman
Sia Liilii with six kills. Junior,
Andrea Alcaraz led the team assists with 20 assists, while senior
Kaila Spevak scored a total of 10 digs in the match. Junior,
Sydney Petersen scored two block assists.
In the first set, the Rebels had a five-score run, that the Pack was not able to follow through. Monteleone led the set with four kills.
Going into set two, Nevada was able to make a comeback and stayed point-by-point in the set with the Rebels, but was not able to continue the momentum. The Rebels closed the set in 25-20. Waiters led the Pack with four kills in the set, while Alcaraz scored 10 assists and five digs.
In the final set, the Pack was not able to pull it the momentum from the second set. The Rebels closed the set in 25-13. Waiters and Liilii led the Pack with two kills. While Alcaraz had three assists, Monteleone recorded four digs and one assist.
The Nevada volleyball team will now hit the road for a match against Utah State on Thursday, Sep. 30 and Boise State on Saturday, Oct. 2.
