RENO, NEV. – After relocating their home opener due to smoke levels, the Nevada soccer team gets their first season win against the UTEP Miners by a score of 2-1.
The game started off with an early Miner's goal by Vic Bohdan. The goal by the junior came exactly 10 minutes after the start of the first half. No other goals were scored in the half.
In the second half, Gabby Brown tied the game up with a goal 20 minutes into the second half. Only 12 minutes after, freshman Trinity Sandridge scored the goal that would win the game for the Wolf Pack. The goal would be assisted by senior Hannah Souza. Sandridge would finish the game with three shot attempts, one goal scored, and an assist.
The Pack finished the game leading with 13 total shots to the Miner's 7. UTEP's goalkeeper Luisa Palmen led the game with three saves. Senior Kendal Stovall would finish the game with one save one goal given up.
Coming off their win, the Nevada soccer team will now look to compete in their first home opener this Sunday at 1 p.m.
