RENO, NEV. – Nevada Wolf Pack soccer fell to the New Mexico State Aggies 3-2 Sunday afternoon, but their loss came with some positive outlooks.
The game started off with an early Aggies's goal by Megan Ormson. The goal by the sophomore came after three minutes of play time. The Aggies would score again with a goal by junior Hannah Leitner, which gave them a 2-0 lead with only nine minutes off the clock.
That wouldn't be it for the first half, as freshman Trinity Sandridge scored a goal halfway through the first half. This would be Sandridge's second goal of the season. No more goals would be scored in the first half.
In the second half, both teams would score a goal. Leitner, who scored a goal in the first half, would score another goal that was assisted by sophomore Gianna Valenti. Then an hour into the contest, freshman Caly Ah Soon would give the Pack another goal. This goal being assisted by freshman Emily Rich.
Despite the 3-2 loss, the Pack freshman put on a showing. Trinity Sandridge finished the game with two shots and one goal in 72 minutes of play. Caly Ah Soon finished with one shot and one goal in 55 minutes of play. While Emily Rich finished with one shot and assist in her 90 minutes of play. The freshman led their team in all categories.
The Pack will be back on the road next week to take on Sacramento State on Sunday, Sept. 5 at 3:30 p.m.
