Nevada soccer falls short in season opener

RENO, NEV. –  After not playing a non-conference game since 2019, the Nevada Wolf Pack took on the Pacific Tigers and lost the contest 1-0. 

The University of the Pacific got on the board early after a goal by Jaida Nyby. This goal being assisted by Lauren Frohan and coming after 27 minutes and 30 seconds into the first half. 

Also in the first half of the game, the Pack had four shot attempts against Pacific's six. The Pack also had six fouls compared to Pacific's five. Senior Kendal Stovall did lead the half in saves with three, while Juliana Alexander only had one save.  

The second half saw Kendal Stovall improve her saves even more, by tagging on seven more to her total. Pacific would increase their shot total by 10, just in the second half with Nevada having three. The Pack would also finish the half with 11 fouls, compared to the Pack's 9. 

Stovall would finish the game leading in saves with 10. Freshman Caly Ah Soon finished with the most shots taken by the Pack with two. Finally, senior Hannah Souza and sophomore Olivia Fothergill both had a shot and a shot on goal during the game.

The women's soccer team will look to win their first game of the season, as they travel home to take on UTEP on Aug. 26.
