RENO, NEV. –  After a successful outdoor season, senior Nicola Ader, junior Anna Maria Sommerfeld, and junior Emily Costello have been named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic team.
 

The three athletes were awarded this honor for their hard work during the competitive season and in the classroom. The requirements for this award included having a cumulative GPA between 3.25 - 4.00, and either have competed in the NCAA preliminary round or have finished in the top-48 in any multi-events during the season. 

Ader, who competed in the outdoor NCAA championships for the heptathlon, also earned the award for her participation in the long jump at the NCAA West preliminary. The senior also currently is triple majoring in criminal justice, international affairs, and political science with a cumulative GPA of 3.782. All of these earning Ader's spot on the All-Academic team. 

Costello earned her award for competing in the 400 meter dash at the NCAA West preliminary round. At the meet, she finished in 31st with her time of 54.20. Throughout the outdoor season, Costello also broke a school record and moved into the all-time list in five events. The junior also earned her honor for her cumulative GPA of 3.877 in her major of kinesiology. 

The last athlete to earn the award was Anna Sommerfeld, who had ranked high in the west for the heptathlon. Sommerfeld finished in fifth at the Mountain West Championships in the heptathlon with a point total of 5,061. This would move her to 10th all-time at Nevada in the event. She also earned the award for cumulative GPA of 3.60 in her major of public health. 

Lastly, the team as a whole was named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic team for their team cumulative GPA of 3.653.
