COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS – On the first day of competition for the women at the NCAA West Prelims, the event saw both senior Nicola Ader and sophomore Emily Costello compete in their respective events.
Ader, who already punched her ticket for the NCAA Finals in the heptathlon, finished the long jump in 28th with her distance of 6.18 meters. She shared the same distance with Sophia Falco of Texas, and Jonon Young of UNLV. The senior was also .16m off of her school record mark.
Costello competed in the 400m dash, where the sophomore finished with a time of 54.20. This time earned Costello a 31st place finish, as well as a fifth place finish in her heat. Costello's time was only seven spots below qualification for the quarterfinals on Saturday, and was just .31 seconds below her school record time of 53.89.
Costello's outdoor season ends with her earning three top-10 all-time marks at Nevada in three different events. The other two events include a sixth all-time placement in the 100m dash, and a second all-time placement in the 200m dash.
Sophomore Rayven Nealey will be the last Wolf Pack athlete to compete. The sophomore will conclude Regionals in the triple jump this Saturday at 1:15 p.m. PST.
