LOS ANGELES, CALIF. – After competing in the first four events of the heptathlon yesterday, the three Wolf Pack multi athletes competed in the final three events of the heptathlon at the UCLA Invitational. 

Going into the final day, senior Nicola Ader was in second in the heptathlon with a point total of 3,168. Sophomore Anna Maria Sommerfeld was in sixth place with a point total of 2,873. Lastly, junior Hanah Smrt was placed in eighth with a point total of 2,822.

The first event of the day being the long jump. Ader would finish in second place with a distance of 5.55 meters. The distance earning her 715 points. Sommerfeld would earn 595 points with her seventh place distance of 5.13m. Smrt would finish the meet with no distance. 

In the javelin throw, Sommerfeld would finish on top with her distance of 40.26m. She would earn 672 points for her distance. Ader would finish the event in fifth place with her distance of 32.59m. The distance would earn her 526 points. Smrt would also finish this meet with no distance. 

Lastly, the athletes would compete in the 800m run. The Wolf Pack would finish right in a row. In seventh was Sommerfeld, who would earn 677 points with her time of 2:31.25. This just beating her old personal best 2:31.38. Smrt would finish in eighth just behind the sophomore with her time of 2:31.42. This earning the junior 675 points. Ader would finish in ninth with a time of 2:31.98. This earning her 668 points.

At the end of the heptatlon, Nicola Ader would finish in third with a point total of 5,077. Anna Sommerfeld would finish in fifth with a point total of 4,817. This being her exact personal best. Lastly, Hanah Smrt would finish in 12th with 3,479 points. 

The next events will see the Wolf Pack distance runners at the Fresno State Invitational, while the other track athletes will compete at the Rice Twilight Classic on Saturday Apr. 24.
