RENO, Nev. -Â Nevada's slide hit three Friday as the Pack dropped a 4-0 match to Boise State at McArthur Tennis Center.
The score line didn't quite reflect how evenly matched the teams were, as, at the time of the clinching point, four matches had reached the third set.
The Broncos (13-2, 2-1 MW) took the win in one of those three-set decisions, as Simon Arca Costa defeated Nevada's
Isaac Nortey, 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 at No. 2 singles. That followed straight-sets wins at Nos. 4 and 1 for Boise State.
Nevada (5-8, 1-2 MW) stayed in the match thanks to gutsy efforts from
Daniel Dudockin (No. 3),
Ambroise Marchand (No. 5), and Matheo Coupu (No. 6), who were each in their third set when the dual was decided. Dudockin and Coupu had captured the opening set in their respective matches, while Marchand fought back from down 2-5 in the second set to take it, 7-6, and stay alive.
In doubles play, Nortey and
Juan Batalla were ahead, 5-4, at No. 1 when Boise State took the point with wins of 6-4 and 6-0 at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively.
Nevada closes the weekend, and its scheduled home slate, Sunday at 11 a.m. against Utah State.
