FRESNO, Calif. - Nevada's final road weekend of the regular season began on a frustrating note, as the Wolf Pack fell, 4-1, to Boise State in Fresno.
The dual got off to a positive start for the Pack (5-8, 0-7 MW), as the tandems of
Milka Genkova and
Mathilde Sarcelet and
Cristina Moll Alles and
Selina Turulja grabbed doubles wins to score the early point. Genkova and Sarcelet rolled to a 6-2 victory over Boise State's Pauline Ernstberger and Holly Stewart, while at No. 3, Moll Alles and Turulja beat Nicole Discenza and Ana Conde Vendrell, 6-4.
But things turned against the Pack in singles play, beginning at No. 2 where Nevada conceded the first singles point when
Anastasia Luneva was forced to retire five games into the first set.
From there, the Broncos (11-4, 5-2 MW) reeled off two more singles wins in straight sets, before Vanessa Timm pulled out a 7-6 (8-6), 7-5 victory over Moll Alles at No. 4 to clinch the match.
The Pack closes the weekend Sunday with a 10 a.m. dual against Utah State.
