Nevada right back to competition at Fresno State Classic

RENO, Nev. – After posting a top five finish at the Cowgirl Classic earlier this week, the Nevada women's golf team is back in action on Monday at the Fresno State Classic.

This event will mark the Wolf Pack's final tournament of the 2021 regular season with just the Mountain West Championship remaining on its schedule. The two-day, 54-hole tournament will begin on Monday with the first 36 holes of play from Copper River Country Club in Fresno. The final 18 holes will be played on Tuesday on the par 72 course.

The Fresno State Classic enters its 16th year, an annual tradition that began during the 2004‐05 season. It would be the 17th event in the 17‐year history of the program had not the 2020 edition been canceled due to the COVID‐19 pandemic. Fresno State will host its annual tournament at Copper River Country Club for the third‐straight time. Fresno State holds the most wins at this event with five. Nevada has competed in this event 11 times in its history.

Head coach Kathleen Takaishi will send a lineup consisting of the same five that recorded a fifth place finish earlier in the week at the Cowgirl Classic, marking the second consecutive top five finish for the Wolf Pack. At that event sophomore Leah John notched a career-best ninth place finish and tied her career-low round of 71 in the final round. John will be joined next week by Victoria Gailey, Kayla Nocum, Anitra Khoth and Maddy Zunino in the Pack lineup. Kathleen Keomahavong will compete in the event as an individual.

Live scoring for the entire tournament will be available on Golfstat.com.
