RENO, Nev. – The Nevada men's golf team gears up for its second event of the season, the Lamkin San Diego Classic, which will take place over three days next week, March 8-10.
"During our break we got in some very productive practice and also had a very intense qualifier," said head coach
Jacob Wilner. "The field at the Lamkin is stacked and we are ready for the challenge."
The three-day, 54-hole event will be held at San Diego Country Club in San Diego, Calif. and is hosted by Mountain West member San Diego State. The course will play at a par of 72 and at a length of 7,033 yards. For the second straight event the Wolf Pack will compete in a field of at least 20 teams. Of those 20 teams entered in the event there are three top 25 programs set to compete with No. 20 SDSU, No. 24 New Mexico and No. 25 Kansas all participating.
Wilner will send a lineup consisting of three seniors, one junior and one sophomore to compete next week. Four of the five in the lineup competed in the first event of the season, The Prestige, but sophomore
Michael Sarro will make his Wolf Pack debut next week. Joining Sarro in the lineup will be seniors
Sam Harned,
Sam Meek and
Brendan MacDougall, along with junior
Trey Davis. Davis led the Pack in its first event, earning a top 30 finish in a field of over 100 participants and recorded two of his three rounds at par or better.
