SAN DIEGO - Nevada dropped the first half of its Mountain West opening weekend Saturday, falling 4-0 to UNLV in San Diego.

The Pack (5-2, 0-1 MW) will aim to salvage the weekend Sunday, when it faces host San Diego State at noon.

Saturday, the Pack fell behind early, as UNLV's tandems of Zita Kovacs/Aura Fang and Izumi Asano/En-Pei Huang grabbed victories of 6-0 and 6-2 over Nevada's Mathilde Sarcelet/Selina Turulja and Carla Del Barrio/Anastasia Luneva, respectively.

Del Barrio fell, 6-2, 6-1, to Sam Smith at No. 5 singles to put the Pack in an 0-2 hole, and Kovacs and Fang clinched the dual for UNLV (5-4, 1-0 MW) with victories over Cristina Moll Alles and Sarcelet at Nos. 3 and 6, respectively.
